xrays are back finally and THERE YOU HAVE IT
the abnormal bone growth in my hand.

anyone who knows about xrays has a theory about what this is, i'd be glad to hear it, sicne i don't see the specialist til the 21st :B

well my regular doc saw it, and basicly told me she THINKS she sees a line. and she DOES see an abnormal bone growth. but that i need to see an expert. which is why i got the xrays, so i can take em to the expert :B

I see the line too. But until they actually cut you open it might be hard to tell based on color and thickness.

I have no carpal tunnel.

But I know for a fact that popping any joint on your body causes it to accumulate small amounts of calcium over a long period of time which can and will cause joints to bulge, crack, pop, and/or cause growths.

i did not know that!
i dunno though, i haven't popped my fingers in years. i used to do that a lot as a teenager, but then right about the time i was 20, they wouldn't pop anymore. no more noise, no more satisfaction, so i stopped doing it. if this growth is an 8 year late result of that, i'd be kinda surprised. but i guess stranger things have happened!

nah both my regular doc and the xray tech agreed it's NOT arthritis or a bone spur (too big for a spur)

Well, that is good. :) Arthritis is a pain (pun not intended). I have it in the joints of two of my fingers on my right hand (in addition to Raynaud's in both hands) and it makes it really difficult to draw sometimes. :/

yeah, i *thought* it was arthritis at first. my doc told me i could either get bloodwork or an xray to see if it was arthritis, and since i have a needle phobia, i opted for the xray.

s'what i'm thinking. but i know that some nurses/doctors in training are on FA and LJ and stuff so i'm just lookin around for what other people might think if they've actually been trained in reading xrays :v

Because if I felt hardcore pain from my teeth which was really coming from my second teeth when I found out much later. Then I can't imagine the pain you must be feeling from your hand. I hope you make it through all right.

it hurts a lot at times, but not so much i couldn't just grit my teeth and go through my daily routine. but it seems the most probable thing that's happened is that i BROKE MY HAND and didn't NOTICE for four months. so my pain threshhold might be...abnormal.

Well that's some paranoia and nightmare fuel right there. The weird thing is for me is that sometimes my teeth bleed whenever I was brushing my teeth or rather spitting out blood (rather light) from my mouth I never knew it was from my new set of teeth destroying the old ones. (| o |)

could be a genetic thing o.o cause if you broke your finger before I could see that kind of bonegrowth happen like that, but if its heredity it gives a bit of thought regaurding how some bones will regenerate without needing to because of a trauma the parent suffered...

well since the growth is lighter in color, it means its not as dense as the other bone, and this rules out calcium deposits, which are usually the most common on-bone growth.

the ultimate revelation the doctor had was that it was something called enchondroma which is essentially a tumor in the bone marrow. i had it removed and was given a bone graft and other than a rather sassy scar, everything's back to normal these days. :>
