The Brood (Cold)
I was talking to some nerd who informed me that for him, the original version of this with the lighting effects was overpowering. On my devices, the effects were more subtle but, difference display devices perform differently. That same day,my gaming desktop's harddrive died and, coupled with how much I hate my laptop which is running Windows 10, I decided to dust off my old, old laptop with the broken fan and use it instead. That computer has a more unusual way if displaying colors which made the original look overpowering for me, as well (though possibly not as much as was described by the aforementioned nerd). I decided that for the sake of the drawing I'd post a version without the lighting in case others had similar experiences.
Since I had done the color work for the original on the desktop, the raw data files for it died with the harddrive, preventing me from simply posting a version with the lighting layer turned off. My only recourse was to take the image directly from the internet, remove all the saturation, and color it again from scratch. This is the result. I decided to do things a little differently with the color, such as using a different method this time and also changing the little one's shirt color, among other little changes.
This isn't the first time I've had this occur over the years so in the future I'll probably just post two versions of any drawing with heavy lighting. Personally I think this one is missing some of its ambiance without it but, better to have none than so much it detracts.

Don't know if it'd mean much to you but on the first one I used the Multiply method which is good for if you don't have a lot of shading already present but it can be kind of overbearing in how it renders.
This time, since the whole drawing was already shaded due to being finished previously, I used the Overlay method which only works if there's a lot of texture and shading to use as a vehicle for the color to latch onto, so to speak. If the sketch has a lot of white in it, the color won't appear. It tends to take longer for drawings I'm starting from scratch but generally produces better results assuming the sketch was already pretty detailed.
In short, Multiply is good for when you're half assing it, and Overlay is good for when you're really trying. On the original version of this, I was trying, but figured I'd test multiply with a slightly more detailed sketch to see how it did. It was okay.
