I've decided to move all my Lytian resources to my
Lytians account. Please give it a watch if you're interested in future updates about Lytians, including:
- A free raffle to win a Lytian adopt, complete with a cool sci-fi scene.
- A .PSD base to make your own Lytian LED masks and pixel-style expressions.
- A step-by-step guide to converting an existing character into a Lytian.
- Addons to other artist's free-to-use bases to help you make your own Lytian quickly and easily.
This upload can now be found here: Lytians - Sci-fi Open Species!
My characters will remain here.
Beneath their electronic masks, Lytians are blind and faceless. Their home planet in the GG Tauri system is exposed to the incredibly harsh light of four suns, so they evolved away from eyes and developed photosynthetic fur that captures light through fiber-optic hairs. They get most of their sustenance from light and absorb the rest through their skin by bathing in nutrient-rich water. They don't need to eat or drink, so they no longer have a mouth at all. Lytians breathe and speak through a vent under their chin instead.
Even though Lytians are blind, they can sense their surroundings and other Lytians' moods through electromagnetic fields, and they also have very sensitive (non-visible) ears. But when they ventured beyond their star system and encountered alien species, they found that their lack of facial expressions made it difficult to communicate and form relationships with some species. To improve diplomatic relationships, they invented electronic masks that help convey their feelings, then later created cybernetic ears and tails too. The lights in the mask are rather primitive, since they had no reason to develop light- or vision-related technology until recently, but the ears and tails contain highly advanced synthetic fur, skin, muscles, and even nerves. In the years since their invention, the masks have become completely ubiquitous among all Lytians who venture outside their homeworld. Their cybernetic ears and tails, which are also quite common, can either appear natural or contain non-organic shapes like hexagons to make it clear that they are artificial. Some models are even translucent or luminescent.
Lytians are an open species, meaning you are welcome to make your own Lytian characters, adopts, and anything else. I'll even be releasing some resources very soon to help you make your own Lytian or convert an existing character into one (like I did with my Tello).
I only ask that you credit
Lytians when you upload your Lytian creations.

The blue character (Tello) was adopted from sugarbeans by my wife and gifted to me. The original base is by Kinklez. I made extensive edits to the adopt to make her a Lytian.
I made the purple character on Teranen's F2U base.
I made the other character on SugarShepsky's F2U base.

My inspirations for Lytians and their electronic masks include Daft Punk, Malice-Risu's Protogen race, and the cat-helmet girl from Destruction AllStars
