I can hear some ties with really early jazz--like Jelly Roll Morton or Paul Whiteman--stuff that came about just after Dixieland had it's run...but the connection even there isn't as strong as the connection I hear to what I stated above. Were there any particular jazz artists you've been listening to with whom you associate this style?
