Remember the early-2000s Disney Channel cartoon Brandy and Mr Whiskers? If you don't, don't worry. It's from the animation genre ``have Charlie Adler voice a character who's annoying but --- get this --- also loud''. Anyway, it's a pet dog and a laboratory rabbit stranded in the Brazilian rainforest and those shenanigans. What makes this something anyone might care the slightest bit about fifteen years later is that the show featured coatis in some minor roles. I can think of two that had speaking roles of any note and that puts the series one ahead of the previous record-holder, Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers, which had an episode with one speaking and one non-speaking coati. (``Chocolate Chips'', the one with the Comic Germans and their hypno-chocolate.)
So this is Gina, one of the two coatis I remember getting a speaking role, in the episode Cyranosaurus Rex. (If you go looking for it online, be content-warned: vore.) And, while there's stuff I can quibble with about the show's design for coatis, and in the other relevant episode they failed to coach Jeff Bennett on how to correctly pronounce, ``I'm a ring-tailed coati'', I have to say, it's pretty satisfying to draw and gets at the impressive snout and long nose that are so important to the coati body plan.

Yeah, it's a shame. I mean, obviously I'm going to speak up for more coati semi-regulars (is there anything the lemurs did that coatis couldn't, besides confuse people why there were lemurs there?), but I think it would've given the show some extra potential if it had a regular character who didn't only see Mr Whiskers as a loser.
