I used buckram for the eyes and colored them with sharpies. probably not the best method out there, but it's working for me ^^
though I wouldn't recommend using color for the part of the eye that's meant to be seen through, as it reflects light back into your eyes and makes it a bit difficult to see. I can see in good lighting, but when looking towards the source of the light, I'm almost completely blind. black will absorb the light and make visibility much better. :3
