If the forest wouldn´t be destroyed, many things wouldn´t exist. Lots of stuff we know would be just gone. Of course in our time too many trees get destroyed. And how can you change that? Greenpeace? Politics? NO! As long as it makes good money nothing can change that. I even believe that someday kids won´t even know what a tree is. So I just say : Get over it and accept it. In my opinion some things that are made of wood are just not necessary and there are people who throw away good furniture. Diffrent reasons: Its a little old, it has a scratch or they just want to show that they´re able to do so.
