Ye, as Mojo said, in my world cropped Doberman ears are a genetic trait that's inherited. I personally think the "traditional" cropped looks better aesthetically, but I wouldn't do it to my own characters if it actually involved cutting the ears. One of their identical-twin daughters got the floppy ears, too, while ironically taking more after her mother than her father.
