this is perhaps not productive but sometimes you just need to stand up for what is right
why is "flash" still a category here but plain animation isn't? There isn't a single browser that will play a swf file without a fight these days, and mobile ones won't do it at all.
having said that, I would certainly LIKE another vector animation format that is easier to support but I don't expect to get one.
