After hugging it out, Don and Levi realized that one of them needed to get out and set things straight.
"I'lL sEnD yOu BaCk. YoU sHoUlD gEt BaCk To YoUr LoVeD oNeS," said Levi, not-so-subtly saddened by the prospect of staying in the mindscape alone.
Don, at first, was happy to go back, but as he looked Levi's sad face and remembered everything that this poor beast had gone through, he got an idea that he felt would be better for both of them.
"No, I'll send you back," he said boldly.
"WHAT?! NO! YOU HAVE TO GO BACK, THEY WOULDN'T ACCEPT ME!" Levi shouted, horrfied at the notion.
"They will accept you, I know it and I'll make sure of it," Don said.
"BuT-"
Before Levi could continue, Don already started the process of sending him out.
"You'll do good things Levi. I believe in you," Don said sagely.
"DON NO-!" Levi said, while reaching out to his other self, but failed as he was pulled out into the real world.
He, of course, searched immediately for Don in his head, but to no avail.
"DoN?! wHeRe ArE yOu?!" Levi cried out, starting to tear up a bit.
He then started to notice their SOUL glowing out from it came a ghostly version of Don.
"Calm down, I'm right here," he said.
Levi looked at him in stunned silence.
"What? I said I would make sure that they would accept you and I intend to keep that promise along w/ the fact that I will look out over you," Don said resolutely.
Levi looked at him feeling both grateful and undeserving at the same time.
"Now, let's go see Goren and work our way up from there," Don said.
Levi flinched at that and broke out into a nervous sweat.
"What's wrong?"
"I hIgHlY dOuBt ThAt HE oF aLl PeOpLe WoUlD aCcEpT mE cOnSiDeRiNg ThE fAcT tHaT i SeRiOuSlY iNjUrEd HiM, --' " Levi said regretfully.
Facepalming a bit, Don said, "Well let's try anyway. He's the most understanding person I know so this shouldn't be too hard, especially I'll be there for support."
Levi reluctantly went over to where Goren was. He was still in the same battered position he was in before. When Don saw him, Levi could feel the suppressed rage teeming him.
"You can fix this, right?" Don whispered through gritted spirit teeth.
"I think so," Levi whispered back.
Goren, of course, was sort of fearful of Levi's return and braced himself for the worst. He was rather shocked when Levi's hands came forward and covered his body in a soothing energy which healed his wounds and replenished his energy. Goren, not forgetting what happened before, drew his sword again and prepared for battle.
"Wait Goren, don't!" Don shouted, appearing to him.
"Donovan?" Goren asked, happy and shocked at the same time.
"Yes my knight, it is me. This is my new existence."
"Wait what, why?!" Goren asked, incredulous.
"I willingly gave control of my old body to Levi here and I will continue to go on as a spirit w/ him," Don said.
"B-but why in hell would you give your body to this beast who nearly killed me and Isabelle?!" Goren spluttered while Levi felt the same way.
"Well you see, here's why..." Don started.
(One long explanation and shocking/horrifying reveal later...)
"So that's the entire story," Goren asked.
"YeS...," Levi said, words not being able to describe how disgusted he was w/ himself.
"And you regret everything you've done?" asked Goren.
Levi simply nodded sullenly.
"Well," said Goren while getting up, "let's get you over to the king and queen. They'll pass judgement on you."
Levi got up and followed Goren to the castle. The air of sadness and insanity emanated so strongly from Levi that Goren could actually FEEL it and it made him feel worse for the beast. Donovan, of course, knew the exact feeling as they shared their SOUL since Don's birth.
...
When the three arrived at the castle, the guards were, of course, quick to point there weapons at Leviathan at each point.
"Put down your weapons, he's w/ me." Goren said to each guard.
Despite the guards' reservations, they reluctantly put their weapons down as they trusted Goren's judgement. After a bit, the trio were at the king and queen. Harold was tending to Isabelle's wounds when they arrived. Harold, upon seeing Levi, got understandably and uncharacteristically furious.
"HOW DARE YOU SHOW YOUR FACE HERE!" Harold shouted, absolutely enraged. "YOU HARMED MY WIFE AND MY BEST GUARD! TO THE DUNGEON!"
Don, Goren, the guards, and especially Isabelle were all shocked because Harold was usually so calm and soft-spoken. Levi, no joke, got on his knees, put his wrists out, and actually BEGGED to be thrown in the dungeon.
"Wait, before we do anything crazy, hear out his story!" Goren shouted, worried.
"This better be good, because I am not in a good mood right now." Harold said, irritated.
One strenuous and horrifying explanation and one tense situation later...
"Oh my," Harold said, speechless.
"Yeah, that's about it. Will you still punish him?" asked Goren.
"Well, I'm not angry anymore and I feel bad for him, but I still have to put him in a cell. It wouldn't be too long depending on his behavior, but I need to send him there nonetheless."
"Ok. yOu'Re ToO kInD tHoUgH..." Levi said.
"Guards."
The guards came and took Levi away to his cell.
...
Levi sat alone in the cell, wishing he could've died permanently when his sister impaled him.... Don came out of their SOUL, looked Levi pityingly, and hugged him. Levi, feeling the gesture, couldn't help but put his face in his hands, crying...
