Darkness and pain. The well of numbness that ate away at her heart and light.
The hurt of losing... everything, truly everything. The dying remembrance of her sister’s face, the
once prideful eyes and cheeks that had stirred unceasing envy and jealousy in the lonesome ursine’s heart.
Darkness, and despair. Her eyes clamped shut as the last moments of her memory seemed to
shatter and crack, unable to think… remember, anything before this moment. Where was she?
What… what happened? Where was Dreamily, her sister? Her… her clan? Why was she left with
nothing but this dry, dusted feeling of broken concrete to give her comfort?
The dust settled down around her, the shadowed haze settling as the world returned to its peace
and tranquility, the heavens stormy and rumbling above, her eyes opened to see a world that held
no memory in her mind. The tall structures and glowing neon signs illuminated her feeble form &
speared her eyes, the twinkle of stars far, far away, almost reminding her, how far she had fallen.
And, a sudden memory. Pain and anguish, what little of her mind that remained sane scrambled
to remember that single, fleeting memory. Her eyes opened wide, glancing around her, seeing a
foreign world greet her back, and… she remembered. Suffering. Death. Disease. Contagion.
Her clan, her sister… her family. Even if they never treated her closely or with endearment, it still
clawed at her heart, knowing now that they were all gone.
She had been saved, that fleeting memory bringing a flood of emotion to her trembling eyes,
and with it, the first rolling tear that revealed her fragile emotions. The face of her elder sister,
Dreamily, the final memory she had, watching as her sister made the choice that would determine
Hush’s existence. To save herself, or save her little, outcast sister, and the future of her clan.
And the result of that choice, was plain to see. Flung from the heavens, thrown away from the
plague that haunted her family, Hush fell. Broken. Shattered. Alone. Left alone by the one she had
revered and envied, cast out in a final act of love and terror and protection.
She fell. Downwards towards the cold earth below, downwards towards her demise, her death.
Downwards towards survival for her species, even if she was to fall alone.
The city flashed by in a haze of neon and towering buildings. The onlookers stared up for a brief
moment, seeing the soaring star, thinking nothing of it, even as the earth rumbled with the impact
and tearing pain she felt. Pain and misery, physical and tearing. The concrete that pierced through
her body, the jagged ruination of her form, as the final shreds of her life dripped through her fingertips.
And, as she lay there amidst her shimmering blue blood, staring ahead at nothing in particular,
remembering the life she had once lived, the pain and sorrow of her story, and the wicked ending
to her tale, she was content to give up, and let her corruption take control. If not for the soft,
whispering voice, and the warmth that slowly filled her heart, she would have.
“You must survive.”
A teary eyed Hush glanced up, startled from her pain and numbness, as she stared ahead, around,
ursine ears flicking, looking for the voice that spoke down to her, from within her, a shuddered breath
giving her those extra few seconds of life to listen, enraptured by the soft spoken voice that called out to her.
“You. Need. To. Live.”
It whispered in a hushed voice, resonating within her mind, filtering out the hurt and suffering, the gentle
wisps of warmth cradling her dying heart, giving the fallen Celestial bear a chance to rise once more.
A chance to put the last vestiges of her strength into her fingertips, clawing at the rubble that coated
her fur and wings, struggling up to her arms as the scrape of concrete barbs slipped from her flesh,
eliciting a scream of shrill pain to the air.
One clawing grasp at a time, she crawled barely a metre from her cratered grave, she collapsed.
Arms bloodied from the hurt, torso torn from the pain, eyes dripping with her grief as she trembled
there, curling up to save what little energy she retained, all in the hope that she would live.
To hear that gentle voice one more time.
“Seek me out. Find me... Hush.”
Golden light sifted down from above, a warming glow that left Hush feeling the sole comfort of
being held close, gentle rested down to be at peace, eyes sparkling as she gazed up at the
small ball held aloft above her. Gentle streams of divine light curled around her, a dreamy
haze filling her mind as she relaxed, resting, comforted once more.
The light coalesced, taking form as the whispers in her mind quietened, azure eyes laying
her gaze down on the soft press that rested against her fingertips, the fluffy weight of the
small plush bear being gifted to her. And in her grasp, she held it close, gazing into the
two beady, golden eyes that seemed to watch her back, glinting with unknown power while she wasn’t watching.
The broken tufts of wings at her back trembled as the golden gaze from above filled her body,
brushing away the fear and doubt of her sanity, the pains and hurts of her body, mending the
cracks on her Core. Tresses of snowy white fading into a sapphirine and celestial hue, fur of
luster and pristine white taking on the faint glow of the sea and sky’s depth.
The shimmer of her form releasing her hate, her self-loathing and despair she once harboured
deep in her mind and soul, finally, a fresh breath, as her wounds began to heal, and her tears
began to dry, silenced beneath her change, as she watched over the bear before her, hearing
that voice one last time.
“Come to me. Find me... Nemui.”
Hush stared into the eyes of the lifeless doll in her hands, her own, now golden hues searching
the beads for answers. Her eyes were wide, wings aching and broken, but her body felt...anew.
"What...are you?" she asked it, gawking silently.
