Philomela's Shin And Avian Config - By DragonNetStorm
<<< PREV | FIRST | NEXT >>>
DragonNetStorm here did a tiny bit of a sketch as a Patreon reward... to show how the leg of Philomela actually works.
People thought she actually could move her toes an whatnot, but actually, they are either locked in place or they make use of a "button" on the "sole" to grab onto stuff. she has no real control, aside from the fact that when she kicks back her back toe/claw the legs change configuration and all the front toes spread wide to offer a wider point of contact with the ground.
The whole lower leg is basically a big suspension that allows her to cushion the landings and also give her a bit of dampening on her steps when she walks in humanoid form.
I am intrigued by the claw configuration that the artist made up. Might follow up asking for next month patreon reward to be something regarding the claw itself.

ah, okay. 2 things:
• the knee corkscrew is on a spring so that if she hits something it "clatters" and offers resistance but does not break
• that screw rotates at her base "clock" speed, which is about 50 to 100 rotations per second depending on how winded she is.
