Out in the post apocalyptic wastes of the former United States, the law is practically nonexistant outside of the major settlements. Though ostensibly controlled by the remnants of the Navy, Air Force, the mysterious Academy, or the Initiative, little attention is paid to what goes on in the spaces between.
Those that make their living out in the wastelands must always be watching for danger. Traveling from place to place, Sierra Walker guards Rakell Scott while she attempts to hack some of the still functional technology from before the war. One of the few people still well versed in these skills, she is perhaps the most valuable person left out in the vast landscape.

And this is why you should always be nice to the computer savvy folks in your life. You never know just when you might need them most! Though I suspect Rakell is just as happy to have a friend like Sierra, who's handy with that gun. They make a great team - and they're pretty darn cute, too.
Most folks probably would figure in the post apocalpse computer skills wouldn't be as useful as survival techniques, and perhaps logically so, but there are places in the post war world you cannot go without someone to disable the electronic locks. Which might just in that make Rakell the most valuable asset out there, among other things.
