"Shroo" is an obvious play on shrew. also mushrooms, which is their primary food source. they are shorn for fur production like sheep, and are also rather popular pets in Hills. as Towa points out, the Shroo is the only animal in this world smaller than a Hillander, while Hillanders are lowest on the food chain the Shroo somehow manages to be even below that. their only purpose in their often short life in the wild is to become sustenance for someone else, and they breed worse than rabbits. 2 shroos can produce 100 or more baby shroos within a single year.
