so honestly i think that it looks great for what you have so far, im assuming you are talking about the hand that you already drew? though i dont have much advice the only thing i could suggest is to look onto life models and drawing out the shapes that you see in the hands, as for painting something i remember when i tried my hand at it is to start blocking everything in, going from darks to lights. and getting a good idea where your main light source is going to be, as well as many art references. for example if i were drawing a rabbit and wanted to paint it i would grab a photo of the colors i would be using and going darks first, and after knowing i wanted the light to come from the front i would look up rabbits ( if there is a specific species ) and look for any live photos rather then drawings trying to shape out the structure of the face and how shadows form.
the only things i can also add to this is there is an artist that i follow that does decent painted art and has a speedpaint for some if you think that would help? i can find them.
hopefully all this kinda helps ?

thank you, the problem I'm having is that I want it to be my character Pheona, https://www.furaffinity.net/view/35101697/ and the colors aren't necessarily neutrals
first, beautiful character i love the design you went, to add i dont think so in this instant it may be good to add blue colors into it for painting, with the neutral coloring, so in example you may want to start blocking out with a dark muted blue/gray, and work up into the warm coloring for lighting, i could see you using an array of cool colors as your base, and to have a more open color pallet for that depth. while any brighter lighting or coloration can be done in warm colors of possible pinks and oranges, the best example i can explain if this will help would be to look at eyes, (even your own in a mirror) noticing how the "shading " of your eye has that cool hue of color added to it rather then a grey coloring, and the highlighted part may have a warm color hue. something that also helped me with grasping the different ways of bringing depth was a youtuber and how he described the best way to add in that coloring, here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZ5.....dex=2&t=0s he uses photoshop but i know that what he does can be transferred to different art programs.
again hoping that helps ?
