Step one complete, now to gather more materials.
One headframe, plastic mesh construction, movable jaw. The mesh frames look flimsy, but work well and make the final product very light and ventilated.

If you look at the back of the jaw, I have some tangs I picked up from staples. The jaw usually doesn't move a lot, so they seem to work. Near the back of the mouth where it opens, some fabric elastic band will be installed to keep it closed. I picked that, because hot glue will hold it to the mesh frame. You also have to make sure the elastic is not too tense, or the mouth won't open and the mesh frame will give instead.
You are right on the reinforcement. after my last one, I had to add two extra straps of mesh to either side, just to stiffen up the jaw extensions from the upper headframe. Without it, the mesh isn't strong enough at the stress points. Johara actually suggested metal mesh when I saw him last.
