The Bucklebury Ferry is situated near the villages of Stock and Bucklebury in the Shire and consists of an above ground cottage made out of bricks and wooden panels and varies greatly from depiction to depiction. The parcel of land with the ferry might also be grounds to a larger house with or without short stone walls and a round gate or has sheds for firewood and other small structures, again, depending on the media.
What is Bucklebury Ferry?
Bucklebury Ferry was a raft-ferry at the main crossing point of the River Brandywine from the Shire to Buckland, about ten miles south of the Brandywine Bridge.
When the Hobbits have crossed Bucklebury Ferry Who or what do they see on the other side of the river from which they have crossed )?
The Hobbits crossed the River, but it was only when they reached the other side that they realised how close they had come to disaster. On the western bank - the bank from which they had just departed - they saw the dark figure of a Black Rider.
Who meets Hobbits at the ferry?
In the book, Merry is not with the other hobbits for the first part of their journey and only meets up with them at Bucklebury Ferry.
How far is the Brandywine Bridge from the ferry at Buckland?
Distance from Brandywine Bridge to the Bucklebury Ferry, is calculated in the MMORPG game. As we know in the lore the distance between the two places is 20 miles / 32 km
********************************************************************************************************************
The Bucklebury Ferry was a raft-ferry used as the second main crossing point of the Brandywine River from the Shire to Buckland, after the Brandywine Bridge (which was twenty miles further north). The hobbit and his four companions progressed to Farmer Maggot's farm and Mr. Maggot offered to transport them to Bree-Land, the farmer refused to progress on through the Old Forest, in the movie, the hobbits all made the decision to use the ferry when Samwise suggested using it as the bridge was too far away, most likely patrolled by Nazgul sent to obtain the ring.
Bucklebury Ferry was apparently left unmanned to be used by hobbit travellers as needed. On route to Frodo's new house at Crickhollow, Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin crossed using the Ferry just before the arrival of a Black Rider, who was forced to go around to the Brandywine Bridge as there were no other boats kept on the western bank of the river.
In the film, Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin hide from a Black Rider searching the Old Forest. Frodo tells Merry that he must go to Bree, and Merry tells him to make for Bucklebury Ferry. The Hobbits run from the Black Rider through the forest as night falls. Eventually, the Hobbits reach the Ferry and barely manage to cut it loose from the docks before the Ringwraiths catch up. As they float away, the Ringwraith veers off to follow the river to the Brandywine Bridge, 20 miles away. The hobbits soon disembark and make their way to Bree.

In the book, Merry is not with the other hobbits for the first part of their journey and only meets up with them at Bucklebury Ferry.
In the book, the hobbits are given a ride to the ferry by Farmer Maggot in his wagon after eating at Maggot's house.
Tom Bombadil, the Barrow-wight, and associated events are omitted entirely. This is done due to time constraints and to simplify an already complex story. Outside of the Scouring of the Shire, this is perhaps the biggest omission of anything in the books. Some of Tom Bombadil's dialogue survives in other scenes, but there is no mention of him at all. Likewise, the Barrow-wight is entirely absent. The only artifact of its presence at all are the daggers that Aragorn will give Frodo and company later in the film.
In the books, the Hobbits are not nearly as panicked at the ferry, and only one rider slowly arrives at the dock as they are already leaving.
While the book originally stated that the Brandywine Bridge was 20 miles distant from the ferry, this was corrected to 10 miles in the 50th anniversary edition.

Damocles Dock is the resting place for the Fickle Ferry, a ferry that drives all across Lake Lachrymose. In the movie the wooden dock is wide enough to allow Mr. Poe's car to roll on and off and in the Netflix adaptation the dock is a t-shape with a metal arch, signs are facing the bank warning people of the leeches.
