Little draw of Marubah and their parents, cca. 20 years ago.
Now they’re aged around 80 and 100 respectively, but that’s okay, Roian reptiles live pretty long lives.
During the Roar raids in Balil Kafesh, Maru lost their family as they were either killed or fled the country. Maru fled too, and found themself adopted by a very unreasonably nice cipactli [”crocodile”] couple that couldn’t have children of their own. They showered Maru with love and care most sahalia [lizard] parents wouldn’t give, but Maru had trouble returning the feeling.

I wonder if similarly to crocodiles of our world cipactli would have particularly strong parental instincts with regards to feeling protective of and affectionate towards their children. I imagine if that was the case then adoption would probably be a common choice for those unable to have children. In Maru's case, they'd have an orphan whom had already gone through traumatic experiences and of a species whom would never grow to be that large then on some level, they'd subconsciously see Maru as still a young child to be protected and loved.
I guess that even if Maru is unable to return the same level of affection and love and never feel the same way as they would with the parents they'd lost, their adoptive parents probably know on some level Maru cares for them but I guess they'd be that awkwardness as we see here.
