2018 art, featuring another one of those characters I haven't drawn in years, Willis Wheeler.
He was met with mixed reception when I first drew him back in 2015, but I don't feel like that should really prevent me from trying to develop him further, especially a couple years later. Past couple pics had him looking a bit sad or worried, but he seems in much higher spirits here, now that he's a bit more used to being in that chair. Which, as he's quick to point out, means he never has to worry about having a place to sit!
He's a bit of a smartass. Like me, he uses a dark sense of humor as a coping mechanism. I think I'd get along with this guy quite well.
He's a young disabled veteran, paralyzed from the waist down after taking a few rounds in a firefight. Much of his story would be based on his life after that incident, and what he does afterwards. I'm thinking he'll wind up working as a counselor or something along those lines, maybe working with the teenage characters at Hartford High School, or working with the other soldiers.
He's still in touch with his army buds, I think he and Rollo would get along quite well, with Willis even remarking "I can STILL walk better than you!" when his clumsy friend trips over his own feet...
I've also considered having him adopt an injured service dog at some point, I have this vague mental image of a former bomb-sniffer with a missing leg and eye that could be his new buddy.
