Unfortunately, I don't have any money to contribute right now, as I'm out of work. I do have experience with medical billing though, so I hope some of this info will be useful.
If it'll be done through a large hospital (not a clinic) talk to the patient financial reps. The hospital will usually have some kind of assistance or charity program for people without income, insurance, or in an unusual circumstance that aren't able to afford medical care/procedures.
Also, if you've recently lost your primary income or insurance, you should be able to apply for medicaid through the healthcare marketplace. Most states are doing an expanded eligibility for it, so if you're (single person) making less than $1700 a month or so (varies by state) you should be able to get coverage that way.
