An oasis among the lava fields and dense trees of the Willamette Forest, the temperature literally dropping over 10 degrees in the final 20 feet before reaching the falls. A refreshing, shadowy place with crystal-clear water. Nothing but the rush of the water cascading down the falls.
This is one of those pictures that I take only once in a very long time. I can't believe I actually took it, and I was there taking it. Also I used to think cellphone cameras couldn't hold up to DSLRs with expensive glass. I know they still can't, but they can sure take some damn fine pictures.
Maybe I should be a photographer. Full res version here.

Cellphone cameras have a huge advantage over DSLRs... you're more likely to have it with you when you want to take a picture. A camera capable of taking pictures that lets you zoom in to see individual atoms doesn't do you any good if you're not carrying it around.

True. I think Dan Rutter made that point about "happy snaps" cameras versus full-on DLSRs: you're more likely to carry the happy snaps camera around with you rather than an entire DSLR kit. His other point was once you've laid out the cost of even a mildly good DSLR set, you might feel obligated to bring it everywhere and use it, to the point you're more focused on taking pictures than enjoying where you are...
