GKaS: Losing It
Just a thing that popped into my head while I was nailing down plot points and warming up for the day.

Sam will have a much easier time of it if he accepts the attributes that pigs and people share - they like to eat, they like to relax, they like to keep cool and they like to stay together - and tackles them in a human way, keeping the whole of his mind contented.
Pigs can digest anything a human can, so stick with decent human food. Chilling and watching TV, or indulging with a book for mental stimulation, works perfectly well. A cold bath or a pool is a more preferable option than mud.
And Sam still has Lucy, which will be the most important element of all.

No, not at all. A Changeling who returns to the Unseelie Court rarely fares well. That is why most of them come to live in the Seelie territories. Garbhan knows this.
Yes, beyond a shadow of a doubt. He has a heroic heart, but not when it comes to fighting for his own wellbeing.

Right. Failing to keep the balance of equivalent exchange twists it into a magic that was never meant to be. The resulting fallout defiles the Wild Magicks and causes blight and rot in the surrounding area. One could make a case that Magic Sickness is a manifestation of that same lack of exchange depending on how one goes about obtaining stronger magic, but that would be on a much smaller scale and isn’t true of every case.
Sam: *hyperventilating* I know who I am, I just... grunt I can’t help myself! I’m not going to last until we find Maya... I don’t have the willpower. I never have, not even before this. MaybeeeEEE... maybe I’ve always been a pig deep down, I don’t know. *shudder* I don’t know.
Don't mention "until a few days ago", just keep saying it, because the human in you will know to ignore the cravings! Keep saying it! Lucy, do you have any desserts? Pigs have never been given any proper desserts, so if you feed him a dessert, it will hold off his cravings for a while.
Sam: *slumping into a seated position * I don’t think you understand. I was overweight as a human because I wasn’t good at self control even grunt then! The human part isn’t helping because it’s just as bad.
Lucy: *shrugs with a grimace* I haven’t got anything. Besides, Tia said he isn’t supposed to give in at all anyway. Human food, pig food, doesn’t matter... it’s giving into his instinct to eat when he doesn’t actually need to, or to root around, or to wallow in mud that’s the problem.

*mindspeaking to Enedia, having continued to view the story unfold from afar without direct interference...
Enedia, your author has a quandary and you're the best person to provide him with an answer. He's concerned for the mental wellbeing of two friends, one of whom is now a pig and feeling overwhelmed by it. What have you done with some of the 'residents' of your own farm? You've trained them. Tell him, or show him how - the boy Sam needs to distract himself from his urges, but he has those ears and sensitive snout now.
How does one train a truffle hog not to consume the truffles or spell components he finds for you? Likewise, how would you train a transformee to use his senses, the better to protect his friend, as a human would want to do? Sam can hear danger from a distance, as long as he recognises what to expect; he can find also find nourishment and other useful things for Lucy, if he can read what his sense of smell is telling him. Such prioritising would help focus his human self away from instincts and cravings that could wear him down. You may be their best hope to guide them through this.

*mindspeaking to Eala, trying to reply clearly despite being in a different realm...
Eala, first I would like to say that you saying that I am currently the best person to provide answers was incredibly nice of you. While I believe that one side of you agrees that I would not be of assistance, I'm glad that the other side was kind enough to say so. Sadly I do feel like I would not be helpful to these people that you mention. To interfere with a cursee might activate something within me to just try and make him obedient, removing his humanity as I continue. Those I change, that aren't a part of the cursed family, are now just animals altered to do anything to help and praise me. To do this to someone who wants to remain human would be difficult to manage, for me at least.
If you trust me enough, both sides of you, I will try to help. If not, I understand, and I wish you the best in trying to gather help for these people.
