But there is a very good reason for it, and that is he is not the central charictor. He should have more, being somewhat central to the plot, but then again he is supposed to be sick in bed. So would that make him a motivational force?

Lol god no, they butchered the sequel so badly they would only destroy any liking people already had.
What they should do however is, redo the film, its all done in flat colors and the BG is the only parts shaded.
They should go back and clean up the movie and then add in a shading layer to the film, which i think would bring it back to life. Watching it again the characters always look plain compared to the BGs
