Decent looking buildings at least.
Most of these new buildings are luxury accommodation, and some of the tenants students from wealthy families. But in other cases students from the university use loans to pay for them. In one case I recall a friend of one of my siblings who was paying over $1400 for hers, and her roommates $750 each. She was paying with student loans.
More Newark, Delaware. This replaced the local Elks Lodge

Indeed, which kinda eliminates the point of university accommodation. I feel students would benefit from having something to inspire and engage them; my old university had an area with a little pond on campus surrounded by flowers, trees, and bushes, with songbirds, guineafowl, and rabbits often visiting in the spring. It was a great place to go and unwind, and think about ideas for essays. :)
One of them was for law. And she was considering either law or veterinary science. In Delaware law is very hard to get into, because its so competitive and the law firms don't often hire outsiders. Took her several years to get even a basic job at a firm outside the county. So to her credit she stuck it out and eventually got a job in that field. But I don't think she likes it, and she'll be paying off those loans for years to come.
Yeah, medical, programming, or STEM are really the only practical things to go to college for. Otherwise I steer people toward trade school.

Almost all new builds are luxury units, because it offers better margins and therefore faster return on investment for developers. What irks me is that demand is low for luxury units, meaning either people overpay because they can't find reasonably priced units or they sit empty.
I think you're right. I don't know if its directly comparable, but NYC has had a lot of luxury apartments built recently. And despite having too many, and not nearly enough buyers, the companies that built them were unwilling to sell them for lower prices. Don't know if it was due to stubbornness, fear of devalueing their product, or just because they'd invested so much money in them. I know NYC has a critical housing shortage though, and construction of these luxury units hasn't helped
It's a problem nationwide. In just about any urban area there is a glut of top-dollar luxury apartments and a decent supply of cheap, run-down old apartments, and scarce little in between. If you don't want to live in squalor, you often have no choice but to overpay.
Yea trying to pay for housing or apartments is rough exp now with all my dept. to (saw the comments below) I went to school 20 11 For Art and 3d design. After a year things fell apart and found out how 2d was dead and going into the industry was almost impossible. It just waset a good fit for me (more a comic guy). so i tried to switch to Electric and was doing great, then my funds dried keeping me looking for work and affording 900 month payments like thes .....also for the price you pay i dough you get insulation at all! theirs
