**Giggles!**
Back in the mid-1970s, my family and I arrived on St. Simons Island down in the southern part of Georgia. Mom was originally from down here and Pop had been working on buying up some of the properties that he would later use to help the family stay comfortable. We had a fairly large place on East Beach, on the marsh side of 9th Street, which put the beach about a quarter of a mile or so from the house. Now, other than the supervised trips to the beach with Mom and Pop, I didn't go that much, being more interested in exploring the neighborhood when my folks would cut me loose on the unsuspecting populace. At the time, about a third of the community there was rental houses, including the one that we were in. Gee and Major, my grandparents, were living in the 9th Street house for the time being until we moved down there about a year later when Pop was closing up things up there in Lexington Park, Maryland.
About the start of the 1980s, though it could have been as early as the summer of 1978, I started to get restless and bored. Not much happened on East Beach and most of the kids were in their own cliches, so I ... seldom wanting to be part of just one group, wandered off to do my own thing. It would be around then I found my own little secluded and secret place to hang out and just be me ... though later, I would also have Devil's Chin and that was more shared with my friends throughout the 1980s, probably because I started to involve myself more with everyone on East Beach. With the beach, there was a warm area of water which was pretty much "crab free" thanks to all of the oldsters and other people crabbing the area out of the little beasties, which was fine by me. I never was one for those "bugs of the sea!" But, for me, there was always a good breeze, some trees to hang a hammock from, and clean sands, free of trash since apparently many people around in the area were slobs. Nevertheless, I kept the place pretty and safe too, often getting a machete and cleaning out the overgrowth of vines and other brush, yet trying to let it stay as natural as possible.
Once again, Taffy is just like me ... protector of the environment and yet party animal and hostess with the most. Beach parties and yet secluded and private times are abound when you know the copper top. Stretched out on the beach with her friends or just breaking way from Crossroads and heading out to Tybee Island to allow herself to clear the mind and just enjoy some downtime. Not too far from where the beach is are two places of note for the copper top. The first being the area where her church holds the "Sunrise Sunday Service!" where the faithful Taffy comes to pray and commune with the Lord with the rest of the congregation, sometimes even creating a canopy for the morning showers that can happen. The second is her father's hangar where he used to service "The Roadrunner!" his P3 Orion Naval plane, heavily modified and with some additions that he added himself. Yes, Pop ... I remembered your hero, Han Solo! Taffy's had recently found the place, thanks to her mother sharing the bomber jacket her Pop used to wear back in the World War II era.
This was another wondrous scored YCH from my newest friend,
Kotecfaction, who really stepped up the game by really pushing my designs to the forefront. Now, I want to be clear ... the artist could have done the character any way that was seen fit, but decided very nicely to stick to the model sheet that I provided for a reference. With the other artists, I try never to make this an issue. I had a long time ago decided not to force an artist to follow my designs, finding out much to my delight, that allowing them to do the work as they saw fit, I got a much better product. Most of the artwork that people do for me are concept ideas. I'm getting older and when the ideas inspire me, it's been easier for me to get a talented and wonderful artist to help me get them more realized. All of the artists I have had do work for me are so very much appreciated!
So, thank you, honey, for your hard work on this piece! It looks better than I thought possible and makes me so thrilled to see someone else use my designs and really make them awesome!
