Originally released in Japan on June 6th, 2020, but ordered on the 22nd for a July re-stock via HobbyLink Japan, this kit arrived here on the 17th of July. After building the behemoth of a kit that is now part of the collection, I decided to return to the 1/144th scale scene after finding out about this kit's existence. What separates this one from the rest is that it utilizes 40 years of GunPla technology into one amazing build. Unlike any other High Grade of the RX-78-2, this one is very color-accurate and only has one sticker for it, which is for the eye cameras. As for what I did to make this kit stand out, here is the list of items used:

GSI Creos/ Mr. Hobby items: Gundam Marker Airbrush System, Mr. Air Super 190, Gundam Markers (Gold, Metallic Blue, EX Royal Metallic Red, & EX Shine Silver), & Mr. Super Clear Flat/Matt.

Delpi Decal: HG Gundam [BEYOND GLOBAL] Water-transfer Decals.

GodHand: Kamiyasu Sanding Stick 3mm Sets A & B.

This kit taken around 16 hours to complete over a span of two days, and I am very happy with the finished result. Now I just need to wait for the end of the month to get the next one, which is the HGUC MS-06S Char Zaku II (REVIVE).

Fun facts about the RX-78-2 Gundam: This specific suit was piloted by Amuro Ray in the very first series in 1979: Mobile Suit Gundam. The RX-78-2 was built in secret on Side 7 for the Earth Federation's "Operation V Project" in Universal Century 0079. This project was done to build mobile suits that can outmatch the Principality of Zeon's main unit, which was the Zaku II. Of the three prototypes that were made, the titular Gundam outperformed and outmatched anything that Zeon threw at the Earth Federation, so much that the Gundam was given the nickname "The White Devil".
