This is a reference for a new character. She'll probably end up inhabiting the same headspace as Johnny and Patience (who I've posted no pics of because I've never actually drawn her myself). That weird world where TF is apparently common enough that it can happen to Johnny every time he talks to a girl and people's reaction to it isn't "Oh, my God!" or "That's impossible!" but "This is highly inconvenient and I'm probably going to sue you later."
Anyway, Johnny (https://www.furaffinity.net/view/26069164/) is the flagship character of that setting, and Patience is basically Johnny's opposite, but Sam here could be considered Johnny's foil. They're both confident, athletic trust fund kids who coast by on their parents' connections and money, but where Johnny is well-meaning and dumb as a box of rocks, Sam is smart and has enough spite to sting a wasp. Johnny just wants to make friends (especially girl friends), but Sam thrives on the idea of being better than others. She's a bully to the core, zeroing in on people who seem week and easy to tear down. She's in her first semester of college and she hasn't yet learned that life isn't like high school. It's going to be a harsh lesson.
Design-wise, I went for tall and thin, but tried to keep her looking like she could be an athletic type. Her hair and her clothes are the only aspects of her design that I specifically had in mind when I started drawing. Her face doesn't have too much in the way of solid details, except that I ended up giving her a nose-style that I don't often use. It's more rounded and a little bit snubbed. I usually go for a more delicate or pointed type (going by this reference: https://tamilandvedas.files.wordpre.....=600&h=220). Her eyes I decided to make a kind of amber-brown, just to contrast with my tendency to make characters with green or blue eyes. I need to practice more with drawing full figures in non-animal forms, though. If there's one thing that this makes clear to me, it's that I'm not super great at drawing faces at small size.
My aim in drawing this was to express personality more than get every detail spot on, though. In that, I think I succeeded. Even without the short biographical info I provide, I think you get the point just by her expression and the way I posed her.
For her frog form, I tried to incorporate her tallness into it. Usually, I draw frogs to be short, squat, and a bit more on the round side, with stumpy arms and thicker legs. Since Sam is kinda gangly, I decided to try for longer arms, thinner limbs overall, and much less spherical. Hands and feet are still giving me trouble, but it doesn't look too bad, I guess.
