Old piece from 2017, but probably my first attempt at a full alien design without a visual aid.
Rosemary Harper and Sissix Seshkethet from the sci-fi character novel The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers. This pairing is a bit of a spoiler: Rosemary, the newly hired clerk for the space tunneling ship, the Wayfarer, and her dear friend turned lover, the warm and amorous ship navigator, Sissix.
If you haven't read this amazing book, you're greatly missing out. Becky Chamber's vivid and daringly optimistic universe is so full of love that all I want to do is snuggle up and reread this book over and over.
