in a sense yeah. many Baxxids that go above ground have taken to wearing veils as it "concerns humans to not know which eyes to look into"
and judging from this they are essentially of a mentality like our own just in different words. so i wouldn't see it as a stretch that a Baxxid probably looked at say a female, saw they were getting a lot of attention (and deals, the shrewd businessmen/women they are) and thought "must be their hair. i shall acquire some of my own!"

Harm, no, discomfort, possibly. The first part of mammal anatomy to break under sonic attack is the ears, if the noise is within the range the subject can hear (ranges outside that don't cause as much vibration and thus less damage). If they can't shatter eardrums with their audible screams as-is, they won't be able to generate nearly powerful enough sonic waves to cause damage to less delicate bits.
That said, noises just outside the range of hearing, especially very loud sounds, cause a lot of discomfort because the subject feels something and isn't sure what it is. It usually presents as a headache.

They explained before that their chitin continously grows and that shapes and patterns in the chitten come from the individual Baxxid wearing them down into whatever shape they are. Some baxxids with little hooked ends on their claws just decided to have them be like that so that it's more useful for them to have a hooking device and not a poking device. I'm honestly shocked that we haven't seen any with one of each.
You sure? I mean if they're feeling a buzzing sensation. Wouldn't a higher kilohertz cause that, vs low?
I mean lower tones are usually also lower in power. So it wouldn't cause any major detectable sensation, if I'm applying my theory right
Ugh, you're making me wanna find an open college and test this now

Ultrasonic noises aren't audible to humans at all. It's the kind of sound that sometimes makes dogs randomly agitated when they hear it, which is confusing to owners because they don't hear it. You can even buy ultrasonic whistles.
Infrasonic isn't audible to humans either, but the vibrations can sometimes be felt in your chest or in your sinuses. On the previous page it's implied that Baxxids laugh in infrasonic.

I have no idea why, but in my head the noise that the veiled one is making is this
