Clickety-clack reviews: Wooden Railway Mavis
It's been a while since I've done one of these hasn't it. Well, here's a review on the oldest and rarest piece of Thomas merchandise you'll likely ever see me own.
My history: back during my childhood, I owned the TOMY version of Mavis. while her model would usually come with the breakdown train, I got her individually (yeah, a lot of the TOMY engines were packages individually with track instead of rolling stock). I don't remember playing with her much though. My second model of Mavis was the "busy books" one. that one is pretty accurate for it's size and i still have the busy books model today. As for this Mavis I got her off Ebay for surprisingly cheap (under $10 if you can believe it!). The version I own is the original 1993 "four-wheel" Mavis. This was how Mavis was made for her first year until they gave her 6 wheels the following year. Why they decided to make that choice is beyond me, since this started the well-known problem with Mavis having trouble going around tight curves. The only reason I can think of is that they wanted to improve accuracy, but then why did they not give Toby the same treatment? But let's not get to deep into THAT, I'm just glad that I own such an Old and Rare model of her.
Pros:
1: As stated above, the "four wheel" arrangement helps her to go around curves easier.
2: The face Is a decent representation of her in the show.
Cons:
None.
Final score: 10/10 Practically perfect in every way!
