I relate heavily to this too.. it's difficult to want to put yourself out there in these situations

I think the important thing to take away, however, is that groups can certainly be nice but that doesn't necessarily mean they're right for you.

Life is like fishing in a big lake. You'll only know what spots are good (for you) by trying a wide variety of them. Factors outside your control can make good spots into bad ones and vice-versa and it's only a lifetime worth of experience that will give you the intuition on knowing for certain which are your favourite spots.
