
Red-spotted Purple Butterfly
The species is a Batesian mimic of the foul-tasting pipevine swallowtail (Battus philenor). The later has two "tails" that protrude from the hindwings and the forewings curve backwards like an airplane wing.
Males and females are identical except for size, so I'm not sure of the gender.
