This is Newt. Born and raised into slavery. When she had reached 23 years old, the slave farm she lived in was torn down due to excessive expenses by the owner as well as a change in reform that offered slaves more freedom and even their own laws. This however did leave Newt homeless, as most of her family was sold away years prior. Alone, and with nowhere to go, she began traveling the world looking for a new purpose.

This became a bit of a challenge for the young girl, as she wasn't properly educated growing up, and her slave collar remained permanently affixed to her neck, making her status as a slave very clear. This made searching for a job difficult, as most reputable jobs at the time did not allow slave labor, afraid of the PR backlash of owning and employing a slave might lead to some thinking they advocated slavery; while others had no need for a girl with very little skill outside manual labor.

Things did come to ahead when she befriended a kind traveling merchant named Bekket who, after she saved him from a bandit attack, offered her a job as his assistant. Eager to have a place of employ as well as a roof over her head, she readily accepted, and together would travel around the country buying and selling wares off travelers and small cities.

It should also be noted that, while Bekket did hire her as an assistant, Newt still does treat him as her Master, defaulting to calling him her superior and serving him when apt. She has since learned to lessen her view of him, though she does still enjoy serving him from time to time such as making him tea or pushing his cart from time to time. He isn't a fan, but he knows it makes her happy, so she obliges her from time to time.

Personality

Newt has a very kind, if not naive, air to her, part of which stems from her slave upbringing while the other half comes from her being exposed to the new world. She is very curious around technology, and easily distracted by neon and advanced machinery.

Skills

She is very strong, having spent a good portion of her life working farms and fields and tending to large feral farm animals. Because of this, she is also very good at tending too and caring for feral farm animals, knowing their needs and easily befriending them.

Her later years working with Bekket has also given her a bit of an edge when comparing real or fake weapons and armors. She is also learning about the different potions currently known, and helps Bekket when he makes homebrew versions of the stuff.

Accessories

Slave Collar

Permanently wrapped around her neck since she was 20, this item has gone through a few changes between her years as a slave, to being Bekket's assistant. For starters, it originally had a tag hanging from the O ring that labeled her a slave, it was removed when her farm was taken over. The ring itself was also replaced upon her employ with Bekket, as the new white ring branded her a free slave, equal to free furs like Bekket.
