I used to know a guy who'd colour in the kids pages in coffee shops, occasionally get some strange looks. But he didn't play by the rules; would somehow manage to turn it into a completely different picture while still using the original lines. Like those puzzle pages where there's a donut pretending to be the handle of a teacup, or a cup hiding in the negative space next to the sofa. Suddenly it's a full-page manga-style sketch of a robot fighting a werewolf, and it takes you a second to see the puppies (or whatever) that have somehow been incorporated into the textures. Then leave it on the table to surprise whoever sits there next.

I think Star's going to really enjoy this :) I'm sure if someone saw her colouring efforts they'd be just as impressed. But I'm holding out hope that her work will be preserved and properly displayed on the fridge door.

There's also Youtube videos of a pro comic book artist coloring in superhero themed coloring books and another who does pro level versions of the made-up superheroes drawn by their child.

I have a lot of feels over Martin's words in the last two panels as I came to the same conclusion in my life about ten years ago (and was much happier for a time before my past caught up with me a led to my current state).

It's also a nice bit of continuity to see that both Star and Gem favour the colour blue! ^^

It's not often that I'm given new ideas about things like being a caretaker, but I'll have to admit.... I've never thought about making the cute lil tykes use their off-hand

It really does mess up their coordination. When I go to furry cons I often run a bab panel disguised as an art panel when everyone gets some crayons and they're only allowed to use their wrong hand they then have to draw a pic with a story.
Eg. If they drew a horse in a field they'd have to come up with a story why the horse was in the field.

Once they've finished and told me the story behind the pic I write their name and age on the pic and we stick it on the wall. Everyone who's a little gets little feels and anyone who wants to be an artist who doesn't think they can draw gets to understand that it's not how good at art that counts but whether you can build a story with your pictures.

Huh. That's pretty clever! I knew you were a crafty one, but not that crafty. :p

I'll actually need to keep that in mind as I move forward RL with my endeavors, because that art portion you mentioned could really help me out.

ive never done it with slang its pretty self explanatory to me what most american words mean. The only time ive googled an american word was when i was following an american recipe and it said to add cilantro and i was like what the heck is that? turns out its corriander.

"It's pretty self-explanatory." That depends on where you're from. Places like New York and some of the REALLY southern states like Alabama have their own slang that can be tricky. I remember talking to an old friend from Essex about that sorta thing. We had a good laugh. X3

I used to worry a lot about what other people think about me, then my Tourette's manifested and I realized that if people are going to stare at me I might as well give them a story to tell rather than they saw a twitchy girl that day. Besides if you're in a public place like a mall or a restaurant outside the town you live in, the likes of you seeing those people again are astronomical! Live a little be yourself.

I have to say that after the anxiety of recent events for Star the contrasting sweetness of these last few pages, seeing her with someone making her so happy with such gentle kindness, is so heartening that it's actually reduced my overall anxiety levels.
