More pre-production art for a TV show. In my last posting I showed a small snake-like bot leading a mule bot. This is some design sketches I did for it.
It was not meant for heavy cargo or labor, instead this bot was designed to primarily live in ducts and conduits of ships and buildings. The bots primarily tasks were electrical in nature; either directly under its own initiative or with the assistance from an on site human engineer or through tele-presence. If for nothing else the centipede existed to visually help establish that this is not our world but the future. The bots could also work cooperatively for larger projects with the centipedes dividing up the work and assigning certain centipedes with specific tasks.
While the centipede has it own internal power supply for longer jobs it can tap into an external power supply and can also send data to outside sources via fiber optic cable. Also the head on the centipede could be changed to different configurations for specific jobs.

A project he was approached on in 1997 that failed during development. Not named as of yet (if there ever was one).

Ah, my mistake. Baron later identified it with a working title of "Earth Force."
Apparently
patpahootie knows something about it, too. (I'd love to hear his memories of this effort.)

Nifty concept, but wouldn't the control logic for this beast be hideously complex, particularly in a zero-g environment?
I'm assuming that the physical structure/muscles probably echo the arthropod, but this bot is going to be doing things that require a lot more coordination than a real centipede needs to worry about, yes?
I ask only because I'm reasonably confident that you have all of this worked out.
