Hiya kakani,
Just a quick note in passing that resizing and compressing images to something /under/ 100% .jpg is a good idea in order to ensure the site runs smoothly and other people can view your work easily.
Various free image manipulation packages are available, including GIMP ( http://www.gimp.org/ ); all of which will be able to assist you in this.
