Roll The Old Chariot Along [Vent]
And we will be alright, when the wind is in our sails... And we will be alright, when the wind is in our sails... And we will be alright, when the wind is in our sails... And we will all hang on behind
And we will roll the old chariot along... we'll roll the old chariot along... we'll roll the old chariot along... And we will all hang on behind
We'll be alright if we make it through Death's Door... We'll be alright if we make it through Death's Door... We'll be alright if we make it through Death's Door... And we'll all hang on behind
And we will roll the old chariot along... we'll roll the old chariot along... we'll roll the old chariot along... And we will all hang on behind
Another round of drinks wouldn't do us any harm... Another round of drinks wouldn't do us any harm... Another round of drinks wouldn't do us any harm... And we'll all hang on behind
And we will roll the old chariot along... we'll roll the old chariot along... we'll roll the old chariot along... And we will all hang on behind

I drew something I usually do not draw- Vent Art.
Me and my girlfriend
forgotten-midgar have been going through some tough times lately. This year started out promising for us but then shit began to rapidly go south, we are struggling financially, we've gotten sick both physically and mentally, lost jobs, and our future looks uncertain. But one thing is for certain, our relationship is healthy and strong, even though we've been under a lot of stress we don't let it get between us and we have been working closely together to see through everything.
I have many fascinations but one of the things I have been long desiring to get into is sailing, I hope once things improve for us and we are in a better place financially I can afford a sailboat. We've been longing to get away from it all lately, and this only has upped my desire to pick up the hobby (among other hobbies). I've also been on a sea shanty/maritime song listening streak lately, and particularly the song/shanty "Roll The Old Chariot Along" spoke to me, the old song speaks of uncertainty but remains hopeful that "we'll be alright if we make it" and says what's wrong to just stop and have a drink? :P
Anyways listening to this version in particular while thinking of all my thoughts and feelings lately is what inspired me to draw this picture.
Okay, enough of that. As for what is going on within the picture itself.
Darla (
forgotten-midgar's sona, left) and my sona (right) are sailing in the middle of Lake Michigan heading towards their homeport in Green Bay (hence why I changed "make it around the horn" to "make it through Death's Door" in the lyrics above) when a sudden massive storm (which I assume to be a derecho part of a larger midwestern storm system) blows up and brings a massive squall of +60 knots. Our two sonas put on their rain jackets as the storm begins to fill the sky in the background and is about to cover up the late afternoon sun as the first squall winds hit causing the boat to heel over while the seas begin to turn rough and choppy. The two realize they can survive as long as they work together and remain hopeful. They reefed up the mainsail and currently Darla is working the lines to reef up the jibsail while my sona mans the helm to find a good heading.
This is the first pic I have drawn in ages and also my first pic I've done with multiple characters and also my first attempt at more advanced backgrounds. I am rather proud of this one.

I love this so much, you made a beautiful background and an even more beautiful description. I love seeing our sonas working together like this and this piece really gives a hopeful feeling. The details in this drawing are so well done and I can't wait to see you draw more. <3
