Amber posing with her velocipede in front of the rented home of Paul McGear, George Harrismith and Mike Nes. History lesson: Velocipede is a bicycle from 1818, made of wood and iron, no rubber tires, pedals or gears. She glides along by using her feet on the ground to propell herself. A rod is connected to the front wheel for steering, and to keep the arm from getting sore, a V-shaped iron rod supports a wooden arm-rest that sits on top of the wooden frame. It's also called a "hobbyhorse", "dandyhorse", or "pedestrian curricle". If Amber wears the usual ankle-length dress, it would get caught in the spokes. So, like most females of the Victorian era, she wears bloomers and a looser corset which allows her lungs to expand.

Yeah. Here's a video of Buster Keaton attempting to ride one "effortlessly".. but you can clearly tell its really hard to ride and sitting on a wooden rod also looks uncomfortable. lol https://youtu.be/47yq9XTbDNY?t=8m16s
