too cute... I think people (in general) have lost the urge and the need to craft things due to the need it/buy it/get now of these modern times. My grandmother crocheted the most beautiful baby blankets for all of her grandchildren and then some. My mother actually had a yarn shop in the small town I grew up in. I still have a jacket she knitted for my father back in the 50's.

I think yes and no - it was more common to have some sort of crafty hobby back in the day (woodworking, knitting, crocheting, etc), but slowly we're starting to rediscover that joy. Heck, look at the Etsy boom! I for one love hand-made items. I grew up with three blankets that were hand made for me as a baby that I slept with until I was 11 or 12. Nothing like a hand-crafted gift in my mind ^.^
