
This drawing is based on a photo by Richard Carver Wood of (l to r) Harpo Marx the pantomime vaudeville comedian of the famous Marx Brothers (raccoon), Charlie Lederer the screenwriter (prairie dog), and Alexander Woollcott the newspaper and radio critic (owl). There is so much detail in this one, so I left it big. The word "gin" in the title refers to the card game, not the drink. Everything in here is referenced from real items (newspapers, painting, curtains) from the 1930s.
How this picture came about is that I knew Harpo always refered to Aleck as a big stuffy owl with glasses in his autobiography. I wanted to see Aleck as an owl. The environment was a fun challenge too.
The entire thing is done in ballpoint pen on a sheet of computer paper. lol
