IMAGES ARE NOT DRAWN TO SCALE lmao sorry
For nearly 400 years after the creation of the original Nine Feknin, Fek was abandoned on the planet where he’d undertaken the task of saving his species by becoming a new species of his own design. They’d left him with only the ability to spy on the Nine directly from their respawn terminal, which was still tied to the only computer that hadn’t been stolen. It wasn’t until Four's experimental body test failed and jammed their respawn printer that, in an act of desperation, they decided to send their best assassin, who, after being away from his own kind for so long and realizing how badly he had been treated, was also secretly their worst enemy. Sairy was sent to maim Fek, but not kill him. They needed him alive to fix the machine. Fek had killed all of the Nine multiple times in their little game of war, but he’d never seen Sairy before.
Sairy arrived on the scene in a special organic ship, the only kind capable of entering and exiting the planet’s atmosphere, and preceded to fight as instructed, removing Fek’s hand at the wrist, slapping him in the face with it, and then breaking his leg at the knee all in one swift motion.
Sairy had been deliberately instructed not to speak to the individual he was apprehending, but Fek, who had never been bested by one of his own creations, immediately applauded the skill he’d seen, laughed at the humor of being slapped with his own hand, and introduced himself.
Sairy, who was obsessed with the idea of Gods and anything else falling under the umbrella of mythology, was enchanted by the idea that he was meeting what was considered his kind’s “true” God, and he ignored the screaming as he removed the helmet that allowed the Nine to see what he was seeing, and ultimately left with Fek, leaving the helmet behind.
As they entered the planet’s orbit, Sairy took a once in a lifetime opportunity, and unbarred his years of hatred towards his own race, pulling the kill-switch on a super weapon Fek had designed to wipe out the entirety of the Feknin species.
Almost 20 years later, the Feknin were no longer a galactic nuisance, and were instead a protected, critically endangered species.
After running into Six, who was with another Feknin who had managed to survive, Sairy felt more than a shred of remorse for what he had done, as well as the desire to form contact with his original species, and took it upon himself to help Six reach out and search for any other survivors in an attempt to reconnect.
These are the survivors.
Six (he/him)
Previously one of the Nine Gods of the Feknin homeworld, Six only managed to avoid certain death due to a certain slip where he’d lost to Fek in routine combat, but rather than killing him, Fek had paralyzed everything but one of his arms and his head, and then proceeded to keep him alive for nearly 14 years before abandoning him on the planet. Six managed to spend the next span of time slowly finishing the ship Fek had been working on to escape before his “rescue”, which he used to crash-land on his scarred and abandoned homeworld, knowing where he could find a backup printer to get himself a new body.
Six now works at a distribution hub and lives on a refuge planet with his roommate, another Feknin survivor named Emmett.
Six is generally even tempered and levelheaded. He rescues abandoned cats off the street, often leaving food out for feral animals while taking in as many as he can support, and fostering others until they can be adopted. Other than being a bit on the tall side, Six is about average in every other way, as the body he managed to reprint was a duplicate of the one Fek had originally designed for him.
Six is most often seen wearing custom-tailored clothing from his homeworld, though he occasionally wears garments he modified himself and often keeps his secondary arms folded across his chest, underneath his shirt when in public.
Emmett (he/they/it)
A blind, autistic individual born missing his primary left eye that spent his early years in a constant state of psychological torment and testing, Emmett earned himself a path out of the slave camps after a researcher took out his right eyes in a reflex test, causing him to go almost completely blind with the exception of the thermal vision in his single undamaged eye. A primary source of sensory overload suddenly removed, Emmett furiously took out the Feknin researchers and the guard, seizing a higher ranking than previously thought possible.
Unfortunately, being blind still marked Emmett as “defective” by the Feknin’s standards, so he was moved to a labor camp, where he’d live out his day working a simple job and living a simple life… until the apocalypse happened.
Emmett managed to wait out the hysteria; he knew he wouldn’t make it off the planet’s surface, as he couldn’t fly a ship blind, and nobody was going to take a defective individual, and so he was spared from the carnage that broke out when there were not enough ships for everyone to leave. Instead, Emmett headed directly for the source of the apocalypse, a theoretically safe area now that the “virus”, as they’d called it, had consumed everyone it could. He made his way to the island where the Nine had once lived in their beautiful palace, now abandoned, and made himself a place to stay. He was unbothered until a paralyzed Feknin crawled up to the door and asked for his help. Since he was simply waiting to die, he obliged, and that was how he met Six, who ultimately rescued him from the planet, and together they built a new life.
Emmett is quiet and solitary most of the time, and usually comes across as grumpy and blunt, though not essentially cruel or mean. He prefers to spend his time listening to music through headphones, though he picked up multiple musical instruments after leaving his homeworld, and occasionally plays his ukulele for the cats. He is particularly fond of the piano.
Emmett dislikes wearing most clothing due to sensory issues, so short of his eyepatch (and the stone or marble shoved into the empty eye socket) he typically doesn’t wear clothes, though he has taken a keen liking to a pair of custom-made boots Six fitted for him, as they shield him from the negative stimulus of walking on surfaces such as grass.
Xil (it/they)
Originally meant to be an offworld slave, Xil escaped the during the transportation process, being lost to the Feknin before it was even acquired by its soon-to-be owners, as it had deactivated its bomb collar before vanishing. Xil was much smarter and sneakier than most of the others that were deemed slave-level; like Emmett and his eyes, Xil was seen as defective due to the fact that it was missing its left outer arm.
Xil became a traveling nomad, collecting oddities from around the galaxy, which it often sells and trades online. As an escaped slave, it had never really settled down. Xil lived a life of solitude, constantly on the move in a small personal ship, which it still calls home.
Xil is quiet and tends to keep to itself, though it welcomes conversation so long as it isn’t the one to start the dialogue. It’s typically polite and very direct when engaged, and is easier to approach than some of the other individuals.
Xil is of average height and slightly heavier in build, and is most often seen wearing a pair of sandals and cargo shorts.
Dv’Ace (he/him)
Previously a middle-ranking Feknin in charge of a group of diplomatic relations representatives back on his homeworld, Dv’Ace now lives on a small starship where he works as a black market dealer, moving drugs and weapons with a small crew of pirates. He managed to escape from the apocalypse by a stroke of pure luck, being located near a ship when the turmoil broke out.
Being tall, generally large, and well armored, Dv’Ace is about as unapproachable at first glance as he is when spoken to. He’s typically quiet, still clinging to a shred of what was left from the society standpoint he had before, and doesn’t often speak to most of the others. When spoken to, he’s been known to be extremely short and cold, and sometimes completely ignores the individual if he doesn’t deem them worthy of his attention.
Dv’Ace’s typical attire consists of shorts made from cutoff pants, usually military in origin, modified combat boots, a vest or nice shirt with modified and sewn armholes, and a rucksack.
Kitty (it/they)
The largest and most heavily armored to the point that it almost resembles a giant lobster, Kitty was initially sold as an offworld slave. After the news of its homeworld’s apocalypse reached the planet it was living on, Kitty killed its owners, leaving their children unattended before departing. It eventually found its way to a small colony planet, where it settled into a distribution job.
A bit of a meathead, Kitty is known for its aggressive tendencies and lack of intellect, often leading to rash, impulse decisions and lots of fights. Despite its short temper and hostility, Kitty can be reasoned with easily so long as the individual it’s speaking with keeps the conversation topic simple and is able to keep their own cool.
Kitty typically chooses not to wear clothing, though it occasionally wears a scarf or bandana.
Marley (he/it)
Another slave sold offworld that was released by his owners out of fear shortly after the apocalypse, Marley lives in the city on a heavily populated world near the galactic center, where he grows, manufactures, and sells psychedelic substances on the streets. He’s known for being rather laid back until triggered, though what triggers his aggression is often hard to predict, and he has an explosive temper. One wrong move or word can send Marley into a hot-headed rage, though time has shown that he can be talked down before the situation escalates, as most of his aggression stems from issues with communication.
His armor is spiny, the most distinguishing feature being the long spines on his forearms and elbows. Otherwise, Marley is of average height with a slightly heavy build. He typically wears shorts and tank tops with the backs cut out, and skateboards as a primary means of locomotion and entertainment. He frequently carries spray paint and leaves graffiti on optimal surfaces he comes across.
Zephrya (he/they)
Previously a diplomat stationed offworld, Zephrya lives in a farming colony just outside the galactic center, where he raises and slaughters livestock animals. As a diplomat who was stationed on alien worlds, Zephrya had more experience than most others when it came to dealing with disputes calmly, and as a result was much more even-tempered than most of the others. Unlike Dv’Ace, Zephrya’s ideologies regarding their old way of life have dissolved, leaving him much more open to accepting a new order and working to maintain it. While he usually prefers to keep to himself, he’s fairly easy to speak with and willing to help when help is needed. Zephrya keeps an assortment of desert plants in his small home.
Zephrya is tall and thin, but well armored, and prefers to dress comfortably. He is usually seen donning jean shorts and flannel shirts, occasionally with modified sleeves for the second pair of arms.
Jorjetta (they/it)
Yet another slave sold offworld, Jorjetta was released by their owners once word of the species’ mass extinction spread across the galaxy. They now live out in the country on a backwater planet, where they work as an exterminator while living off the resources produced on their small farm. Jorjetta enjoys collecting bugs, rocks, and other small creatures and trinkets in their spare time. While they lack raw intellect, they are very wise, moreso than almost all of the other surviving members of their race. Before being sold as a slave, Jorjetta was part of an experimental series, and was deemed defective after being born thin with almost no armor. As a result, Jorjetta has an extremely mild temperament and will refuse to engage in physical combat whenever possible. While quiet and a bit odd, Jorjetta is unusually friendly for a Feknin, and is often quick to engage with others when given the opportunity.
Jorjetta typically wears overalls with extra pockets sewn anywhere they’ll fit and nothing else. Their pockets are typically filled with random objects they’ve found, food, and occasionally a small animal or two.
Chip (he/they)
Similarly to Xil, Chip was another escaped slave. Shortly after being acquired by his new owners, Chip performed surgery on himself to remove the bomb collar placed around his neck vertebrae, something that all low-ranking Feknin were given in order to keep them in control. With a missing chunk of carapace and nasty scar, but no means of being remotely killed, Chip slipped away while his owners slept and made his way off the planet. The crafty creature made his way onto a desert planet outside the galactic center’s scope, and made himself a home near a town of a stone-age alien civilization, which he slowly worked his way into.
Chip knits, and with four arms, he knits quickly, and has made it his primary trade on his stone-age home, along with spinning wool into yarn, which he also barters with. When he isn’t engaged with the townspeople, Chip enjoys going for long walks at night, and never has any light in his small home above that of a single candle.
Being one of the higher-intellect members of the group, along with the experience of integrating himself into an alien society without technological assistance, Chip excels in the realms of communication and patience. He’s very attentive and receptive, but extremely difficult to unnerve or aggravate, which makes him an excellent source of help when a dispute needs settled, as well as a desired companion to anyone who simply needs someone to listen to what they have to say, especially if they’re having trouble finding the words.
Chip typically wears a kilt made of alien animal hide, miscellaneous pieces of jewelry and accessories made from any combination of bone, metal, string, and stone. Whenever he leaves his home, he always carries a backpack full of knitting tools and materials.
Octomoto (he/him)
Previously in charge of managing slave camps on homeworld, Octomoto was another low-ranking Feknin that managed to escape the apocalypse due to the fact that he happened to have access to a ship at the time of the event. While a brief period of pirate warfare and assassinations broke out between the Feknin and the rest of the galactic center, Octomoto fled to a small interstellar cluster further down one of the arms of the galaxy, landing on a heavily-populated refuge planet covered in cityscapes. Octomoto disappeared into the slums, hopping between jobs and gathering credits while making wherever he was his home, as he was very large and strong, and sported an unusual but highly effective form of armor made by his short, wiry metallic fur zipping and fusing together into jagged, scale-like mats. Most of the other aliens were smart enough to leave him alone, regardless of if they knew what he was or not. He was an oversized city rat, sleeping in public parks and simply enjoying the fact that he was alive.
Despite his size, Octomoto is extremely passive for a Feknin, his demeanor calm and collected even in times of chaos. Although he isn’t overly intelligent, his average wits and lack of temper allow him to analyze situations before making decisions on how to handle them. Much like an oversized cat, he enjoys spending free time lying in comfortable sunny places while reading or sleeping. He doesn’t wear clothes and he speak much, and generally isn’t the best Feknin to hold a conversation with for any extended amount of time.
Robin (he/him)
The most aggressive of the survivors, Robin was a mid-ranking soldier who was on the planet at the time of the apocalypse. Being abnormally small, Robin had a speed advantage over the others in the vicinity, and when combined with his reflexes and heightened aggression, allowed him kill off multiple other, higher-ranking Feknin, in order to seize the nearby vessel and escape.
Robin spent a while jumping around the galactic center, alternating between assisting in assassinations and lying low until the ongoing conflict was called off, and the Feknin were suddenly protected as an endangered species.
Robin now lives on a space station and works in communications for hailing ships. His hobbies include kickboxing, martial arts, and gymnastics along with parkour. His aggressive tendencies cause him to pick fights often, though he’s moved away from killing anyone he’s bested in combat, and typically humiliates them instead. The same tendencies cause him to be a poor decision maker in the long run, and make him quite difficult to reason with when he’s aggravated.
As far as apparel goes, Robin is minimalistic and practical and typically wraps his hands and feet, though he occasionally wears armor-like vests and boots.
Bukka (they/it)
Previously a low-ranking Feknin that worked as a farmer on the homeworld, Bukka now lives on a space station in orbit around a large moon belonging to a planet inhabited by a space-age civilization, where they work as a chef. After the realization that, outside the old rules of homeworld, nobody was going to harm them for speaking, Bukka became excessively verbal. They frequently speak over others and cut people off mid-sentence, something that can make having a conversation with them very difficult and even aggravating. Although not physically aggressive, Bukka is very verbally forceful and quick to argue, even when nobody is disagreeing with them. They especially like topics centered on veganism and agricultural abuse.
Bukka’s poor social skills often cause other individuals to avoid them in conversation, and it’s a frequent occurrence to find Bukka talking to themself, inanimate objects, and random plants and animals. However, their verbal aggressiveness stems directly from having no means of communication back on homeworld, and when given the opportunity to speak their mind completely, Bukka’s demeanor shifts to being more open and receptive, allowing the individual they’re speaking with to give input and become part of the actual conversation without being cut off.
When they aren’t engaged in some kind of verbal dispute or rant, Bukka enjoys climbing and running, both for speed and distance, all of which are activities their lean but average-sized build are naturally suited for.
Bukka doesn’t typically wear clothing, though occasionally sports a sunhat or a scarf.
Extra: Feknin do not have reproductive organs, and being sexless, do not have any concept of gender standards or roles. Pronouns are taken from other civilization standards. Most Feknin of higher rank adopted he/him pronouns due to gender stereotypes stemming from other civilizations, while lower-ranking individuals were simply labeled as “it”. How a Feknin identifies varies by individual, where some find their pronouns important while others have almost no preference. The above pronouns are listed from most to least preferred on those who have more than one acceptable pronoun, and may change throughout the character’s storyline.
