Kelruun is a Chistori. Once almost entirely isolated and independent, Chistori were discovered to share many qualities with other fierce and aggressive species—yet they are on average, far less prone to benevolence than most other species. When Kelruun began to feel The Force within him, he sensed that its unique aura would alienate him from his kin, and likely lead him to his death. When a smuggler arrived in his world, he saw an opportunity to escape his homeworld. While he initially planned to slay the smuggler and steal the transport, his inability to pilot the craft required he spare the human's life. The human turned out to be well-experienced in his skill however, and gradually began to convince Kelruun of the benefits that a mutually advantageous relationship might bring. Within him, Kelruun felt it was the right course to trust the smuggler.
When he first set foot on a world other than his own, Kelruun had accepted the job of guarding the smuggler, a career he embraced with astonishing effectiveness. The more experiences he endured, the more his abilities grew in ways he couldn't explain. When the smuggler embarked on a contracted job, Kelruun pursued a Rebel pilot on a special assignment, whom the smuggler was intending to capture. As the time came however, the smuggler revealed he was also betraying Kelruun: he had seen the preternatural skills the Chistori had demonstrated, and begun to suspect Kelruun was Force-sensitive...the type of individual The Empire would pay a great sum to receive as a bounty.
Kelruun was nearly killed as he immediately launched into a fury, attempting to prevent his own capture. The Rebel managed to free himself, and together they were able to incapacitate the smuggler. Before he could deliver a killing blow, Kelruun was stopped by the Rebel, and encouraged to spare the man's life. In the end, Kelruun decided to quell the conflict that raged within him, a decision which changed his future forever.
The smuggler was taken into the custody of the Rebel Alliance, and Kelruun was encouraged to assist the Rebellion. He did so, working as a guard for transports moving equipment and supplies from various remote planets until a few years after the Battle of Endor, when he was encouraged to travel to Yavin 4, where Luke Skywalker had begun establishing the New Jedi Order.
Now, after several years of training, Kelruun has become a skilled Jedi Apprentice, often sent on missions to hunt down the Imperial Remnant—eventually leading him into an encounter with the wookiee known as Rorwarr.
