In the dark abyss that was the cult’s basement was a skinny boy w/ messy hair who wore a t-shirt w/ shorts named Grey. Grey was kidnapped from his home as a baby and he’s lived in the cult’s basement for 18 years. He was taught that the room he lived in, w/ it’s eerie red light and pentagram in the center w/ one door, was everything in the world and that there was nothing else. Not being able to know any better, Grey believed it.
Some of the cultist’s showed their faces to him while others didn’t and they provided him w/ food, water, and toiletries. They also taught him a decent vocabulary as well. This didn’t mean Grey’s life was a happy one, however. From a young age, he was conditioned to be completely submissive. If he ever spoke out loud, moved from sitting criss cross in the center of the pentagram, or was disobedient, the cultists would beat him senselessly until he was barely conscious, bleeding, and/or temporarily immobile. Sometimes, this was done even if Grey was obeying as sometimes the cultists had a bad day or were stressed and they took it out on him.
As a result of the abuse, Grey got used to the beatings and was completely submissive. At first, he would cry out and/or scream, but eventually, the beating just became normal for him and he would stay emotionless everytime they came. As for speaking, instead of speaking, Grey would write his words out in a small notebook and show the cultist who came to see him what he had to say. He was of course only allowed to do this if the cultists had said something that required his answer. As for toiletries, he had a bucket for waste which would be removed after use, toothpaste w/ a toothbrush, and a sponge plus bucket for showering. For food, it was always the same three healthy, adequate meals everyday.
When it comes to what Grey was taught, he was primarily taught words, how to eat and drink, how to bathe and brush himself, and how to change clothes. He was not, however, taught what love, friendship, kindness, emotions, and socializing were. When it came to birthdays, the most he would get was a small cake on his tray. He also was never taught what the cult’s plans were.
As the years went by, Grey just got used to the way things worked. Whenever a beating came, he wouldn’t even flinch. Whenever his mediocre food came, he ate it politely. Whenever he was taught a lesson, he was always attentive. Whenever he was left alone, he would stay sitting in the center of the room, thinking of nothing and just staring blankly ahead. He only ever smiled when he got a small cake or on the odd occasion where a cultist would give him a tiny praise. Grey was, essentially, a perfect child for the cult….
…
After 18 years had passed since Grey’s kidnapping, the cult discussed things amongst themselves and decided it was finally time for their grand plan to be enacted. All 10 members came into Grey’s room and had him lay in a way so that his head and limbs were all within spaces of the pentagram while his body was in the center. Once that part was finished, the group placed one large pot and one large red jar at each pentagram point and a large, man-sized metal cast in the back that was human-shaped w/ a hole at the top.
Once it was done, the ritual began. The one at the front pulled a book from his cloak and spoke the forbidden words from within it. As he spoke, the pentagram glowed a brighter red than normal. This kept going until….
A dark spirit flew up from the circle. The cultists rejoiced as their efforts had not been fruitless. They’re joy was short-lived as the spirit locked the door of the room and promptly stabbed the cultists where they stood. They all fell, some terrified in death, others overjoyed. Grey, on the other hand, was still alive and for the first time in years, felt some actual fear as he gazed upon the murderous spirit (though he had no idea what that feeling was). The spirit moved around for a bit and its movements were both curious and a bit sluggish. The spirit saw Grey, looked at him and then at the metal cast behind it along w/ the pots filled w/ mysterious contents. The demon then flew into the metal casket. It then caused the contents from the pots (which were patches of skin, organs, bones, cartilage, etc.) as well as the jars (which had blood in them) to fly into the top of the cast quickly. Once that was done, the cast burst open to reveal that the demon had made a strange body that looked like a twisted version of Grey’s body. It had patches of skin that were all different shades and were all stitched together . It was somewhat fat, the hands and feet were rather blocky, it had a growth that looked similar to Grey’s hair and the eyes were large, bloodred, and had no pupils.
“ThIs bOdY iS… iNsUfFiCiEnT. YoUrS tHoUgH,... WILL HAVE TO SUFFICE!” the nightmare said in a deep terrifying voice.
Grey, unable to move, was helpless as the demon left it’s patchwork body. It “looked” down on Grey’s face once and rushed into him. As more of the demon went into him, Grey could feel his SOUL moving away from his body and he started to lose most of his feeling. Grey then saw his body w/ shadows around it. He had only ever seen it in a mirror whenever he was brushing, but this was something else entirely! He looked towards the empty husk that the demon left and possessed it, knowing that he couldn’t beat the demon. It was an experience like no other as the body felt EXTREMELY strange, kind of heavy, and pretty awkward. The eyes of it (they went empty when the demon left), where now black w/ white pupils. His fingers and toes were also blocky now.
Grey looked himself over, unable to process this. Before he could, his body rose like a marionette. Then it’s face opened up. The teeth had become sharp and jagged while the eyes had become the demon’s previous eye color. Grey tried to step back in fear, but found that he couldn’t.
“Hm, this body will suffice. Here, I won’t be needing these!”
The demon tossed the pencil and the notebook over to Grey who scaredly caught them.
“I could kill you now, but that wouldn’t be very fun. Plus, you’ve been a very good source for me. So instead, I’ll have some fun w/ you for now! :)”
The demon opened a portal underneath them w/ a blue sky in it. Grey looked at “Grey?” in confusion (yet another unknown feeling for him). The demon possessing his body just eerily waved farewell before Grey suddenly fell through the portal. He screamed as he saw the ground coming up fast. He tried to elevate himself, but to no avail. When he landed, it was pretty hard. Barely conscious, he looked up to see a strange face greet him while he also heard some explosions and voices in the background.
“Hey buddy, you okay?” the person asked.
Grey, having had his fill of excitement for the day and having just landed rather hard from a portal, promptly lost consciousness at this and fainted.
…
When Grey awoke he thought that all the previous events had been a dream. When he looked at his arm though, he knew it had all happened. He looked around. The place he was in looked INCREDIBLY foreign to him. Everything was white, it looked like part of the ceiling was right there above as he bumped his head on it, and what was this soft thing he was in? It was rectangular w/ some sort of cloth on it. Grey then started to panic a bit. Where was his notebook and pencil? He got out of the bed (a bit gingerly as he still wasn’t used to this body) and looked around frantically. Luckily, his pencil and notebook were there w/ some clothes, a weird green cloak like thing and shoes w/ socks on a medium table. The notebook was next to them.
Grey looked at the table curiously. He had never seen something like this before. He then looked around the room and noticed some other strange things. The ceiling part from before had been a soft rectangle (basically a bunk bed) like his, there were strange lights above, a weird thing next to the rectangles w/ rectangles in the front, and various strange objects on top.
Grey went back to the table. On the clothes, he found a note.
Hey weirdo! The boss had me lay out some clothes for you. I wasn’t too thrilled about it, but I laid some clothes out that I thought would look cute on you. Also, your hoodie is there too along w/ your shitty notebook.
-Cherry
Grey thought it was bizarre, but put clothes on. They were a bit snug due to his girth and the hoodie couldn’t close all the way, but it worked. The shirt was a bit weird to Grey because of it’s odd black and hot pink design, but he kept it on. Grey then noticed a mirror and went to it. He couldn’t believe he was looking at himself. His face was all full of stitches w/ the skin being different shades all ‘round. His mouth looked really weird and a bit monstrous. His eyes were big, white, and had weird pupils. His girth was pretty big as well. The similarity to his old body was hair, but even then, that was more a growth than actual hair. Grey looked so wrong that he started to tear up a bit.
He then heard a knock at the door that scared him.
“Hey little buddy, you up yet?” the rough voice asked.
Grey remembered the voice from before. He also realized that he wasn’t in sitting position! He quickly went to the center of the room and sat like he did before back at the basement. When the door opened, Grey could not believe his eyes. This person (if he could even be called that) was tall, muscular, and looked like a monster. Grey just at him w/ his mouth agape. He didn’t realize it, but his face was burning up a bit as he felt a strange feeling towards whatever this was.
“What, did I surprise you?” he asked. When Grey didn’t answer, he sighed, “Get up. There’s other people who’d like to see you.”
Grey got up and followed the strange person. When Grey looked up at him, he saw that he was calmly and warmly smiling at him w/ a pinkish hue in his cheeks. For some reason, Grey couldn’t help but turn his face away as his face felt funny and he felt all weird again.
“My name’s Cedric. What’s yours?”
Grey, snapping out of it, whipped out his notebook, wrote in it and showed Cedric.
My name is Grey.
“Grey huh? Can you talk, Grey?”
Grey nodded.
“Well, why didn’t you?”
I’m not allowed to talk. If I do, bad things happen, Grey wrote.
“Like what?” Cedric asked quizzically.
Grey drew an interpretation of a person standing over another, the person above striking the bottom one. It was quite crude and a bit hard to make out, but Cedric unfortunately understood the meaning.
“Oh…. Well, nothing like that will happen here to you…. Oh! We’re here!”
Grey was confused at first. Then, he looked forward. Not even the fastest thing alive could’ve caught his jaw when it dropped. The room was like nothing he had ever seen before and neither were the people! They were all strange and colorful! Some were on a strange, soft-looking thing. Others were up and about doing different things. There was another strange room to the side w/ a large white box in it. In the first room, there was also a large, strange table and a weird looking box w/ moving pictures on it and weird boxes underneath.
“Hey everyone, he’s up!” Cedric shouted while giving Grey a small pat on the back which kind of surprised him as he kind of expected a really hard and painful slap across the back.
“Oh my, he looks dreadful!” said a pale male monster who wore a weird hat and strange clothes.
“Agreed,” said a pale floating girl w/ glasses.
“Aye, don’t hate on it motherfuckers. I did the best I could and I think he looks good!” said a monster who had black skin and a face that both looked similar to Cedric’s face and skin and wore a shirt that was black w/ pink letters that said ‘Bad Bitch’. Grey could tell this was Cherry.
“So what’s his name?” asked a rather blocky-looking monster who had the same complexion and texture as the monster w/ the weird clothes. This one put Grey off a little.
“Go on,” said Cedric to Grey encouragingly. (For some reason, that strange feeling Grey felt earlier was back again at this.
Grey, he wrote and showed everyone.
“I’m Benjamin, darling.”
“Vicky,” said the floating girl.
“I’m Cherry bitches! >:D”
“Pete,” said the blocky-looking monster.
“That over there on the couch is Oliver,” Cedric pointed to a rather large monster on the couch who turned his head and did a sign w/ two of his fingers that Grey didn’t recognize. “And all that’s left is our boss, Ash. He went out for a solo mission, but should be back soon. Finally, you already know me, Cedric. Do you have any questions?”
Um what do you people stand for, what is this place, and what IS everything that’s in here, like that weird thing on Benjamin’s head, or that white box over in that other room, or those soft rectangles from that room?
When Grey showed the others this, they laughed of course. When they saw he wasn’t joking however, that’s when they knew something was seriously wrong here and that this wasn’t going to be easy….
