Celebrating Easter 2020 (with Short Story)
MASSIVE UPLOADING FROM LAST YEAR 2019
Happy Late Easter Sunday!!!
Here is the short story behind this artwork:
It is a warm Sunday morning as the interspecies couple caressing themselves on a soft and warm bed in the apartment. The sun rays passed through the glass window, glaring at their tired faces. Judy, a gray bunny slowly opened her amethyst eyes, yawning and then turning her head to see Nick, her goofy sly fox hugging her.
"Good morning, sly fox." she greeted as her partner slowly opened his emerald eyes, giving her a smirk.
"Good morning, my dumb bunny." he greeted her back.
After, they kissed each other's muzzle and then Judy stood up from her bed and checked the calendar hanging on a wall beside her hanging family photos. There was a number on the calendar circled that was saying Easter.
"Oh, sweet cheese and crackers!" Judy cried.
"What's going on there, Carrots?!" doubted Nick, his ears drooped in concern.
"It's Easter!" Judy cried. "Every year, my family and relatives will celebrate Easter at my hometown!"
"That's because you bunnies are fun in hiding and collecting chocolate eggs and rabbits?" Nick cracked a joke.
"Har-har! Very funny." Judy playfully rolled her eyes.
"Are you going to invite me for celebration just like last year?" asked Nick.
"Of course as always, Nick!" Judy answered as Nick nodded. "C'mon, let's go!"
Judy quickly pulled Nick's arm as he went out from the bed.
Two hours later, they went to the Sahara Square to board on a train to Judy's hometown, Bunny Burrow. Judy is wearing a purple dress with a black belt around her waist and a formal purple sleeves wrapped around her elbows. The train took five minutes to board the passengers to their destination. Mammals, no matter big or small, crowded the whole area for the train to pass by. After, the train stopped as the passengers went in and went out. The train's destination is Bunny Burrow according to the loudspeaker in the waiting area. Nick and Judy board into the train to travel to Bunny Burrow.
A few minutes later, the trained stopped on Bunny Burrow as the passengers went out for their destination. Judy inhales fresh and cold air in a beautiful atmosphere on Bunny Burrow.
"Aww, I miss my home!" Judy said, feeling the nostalgia in her home town.
"Well, what are we waiting for?" shrugged Nick.
Nick and Judy walked a couple of blocks to Judy's home, seeing a lot of crops in her family's garden and tunnels on her neighbor's houses. By the time they went to the bunny's house, a little bunny with some spots on his face shouted that his elder sister is back with her fox boyfriend. Then, Judy's younger siblings rushed to them, hugging them. Her bunny siblings tried hugging Nick's limbs and his fluffy tail, making it difficult for him to move.
Judy's parents, Bonnie and Stu, went out from their house, smiling when they see their daughter back from the city.
"Oh, welcome home, Judy!" Judy's mother, Bonnie, greeted her, giving an embrace to her daughter.
"I miss you so much, mom and dad!" Judy hugged Bonnie tightly.
"I never see you for like a year!"
"I know, mom! I always visit here every Easter!"
After, they broke from embrace.
"Hello there, Mr. Wilde!" Bonnie's father, Stu, waved.
"Just call me Nick, Mr. Hopps." Nick waved him back as he struggled to let the bunnies go free.
"Stu. Just call me Stu."
Last year, when Judy introduced Nick to her parents, Stu never trust a fox at first but Bonnie calmed him down, telling him that he should give him a chance. After Nick told about their relationship after saving Zootopia few years ago, Stu started to trust him since he is also a hero along woth his daughter, Judy.
"Okay, kids!" Stu called his sons and daughters by clapping his paws. "Time to let him go!" They moaned in sadness and let Nick go from his fluffy limbs and tail.
"Whoa!" Nick panted. "Thank you so much, Stu! I can't believe they really missed me unlike last year."
"Don't mention that, Nick."
"So, it's ten o' clock in the morning." Bonnie said, "our relatives will be coming this afternoon. Do you still do the same activity?"
"Of course yes, mom!" Judy answered. "I miss doing egg hunting except I am in a white bunny costume." Bonnie began chuckling from the memories from last year.
"Well this time, it would be your boyfriend." Bonnie replied, putting her paw on Judy's bare shoulder as she glanced at Nick.
"Alright! I guess it would be more fun than last year!" Judy cried.
Hours until it passed to afternoon, Judy's family and her relatives gathered themselves around on a wide front yard. They were celebrating Easter by having fun activities like egg hunting, giving blessing, adult talks, and many more. Easter is not more on these fun activities but also celebrating new life and eternity.
It is two o'clock in the afternoon, all the young bunnies are gathered on a front yard while adults are trying to guide them before the start of the fun activity which is egg hunting, one of the most favorite activities for the young bunnies to play. While the adults are helping and guiding them before the start of the game and all the Easter eggs were already placed in any hiding spots, Nick and Judy were behind the tree, discussing something for the egg hunting game.
"Nick, you are going to be the Easter bunny for the egg hunting." Judy ordered.
"Uh-what?!" Nick groaned. "How about you, Carrots this time?!"
"Nick, I already done playing as an Easter bunny and it is really embarrassing and ridiculous. I was a bunny in an Easter bunny costume from last year and it is now your turn."
Nick crossed his arms and did not agree with her. Being a hesistant, he sighed in defeat.
"Fine!" Nick groaned.
"Hooray!" Judy leaped with excitement.
"Okay, the Easter bunny costume didn't fit for my size."
"That's why, they ordered another one with a bigger size." Nick's eyes widened after.
Later, Nick had the Easter bunny costume on.
"I'm ridiculous, aren't I?"Nick snorted, crossing his arms.
"No, you're cute!" Judy grinned as she took out her phone to snap a photo of him. Then, she posted in on her Furbook and Instapaw.
While the young bunnies are waiting for the game to start, Nick comes out from the tree with a basket on his paw, acting like a cheerful Easter bunny.
"Okay, everyone," Nick spoke in a childish voice. "I am an Easter bunny and I am here to play as the mascot of this fun activity." All the bunnies laughed as Nick started to like it. "Alright, you know the rules of this game, right?"
"YES MISTER EASTER BUNNY!" The young bunnies answered, preparing for a leap by kneeling.
"Okay!" Nick replied and used his paw fingers to start the counting. "Ready in three...two...one...GO!"
All the young bunnies dash and find as many Easter eggs as they can find. Nick leaps around the yard, seeing some young bunnies find the Easter eggs.
After all the eggs were collected by young bunnies, The adults helped Nick and Judy do the counting of the Easter eggs found by each bunnies until one bunny who got the highest number of Easter eggs collected declared a winner. Her reward is a two-hundred Zootopian dollars while the other participants of the game rewards twenty Zootopian dollars each.
It is already five thirty in the afternoon, the sun was about to set and the orange and violet skies were visible up high. They were at the train station, waiting for the train to travel back to Zootopia. Nick and Judy started leaving the Bunny Burrow as Judy's family amd relatives waved them a good-bye.
"Okay, good-bye and see you next year, guys!" Judy waved. "Thank you so much for the fun and I love you!"
"Take care, sweetie!" Bonnie waved her.
"I'm gonna miss you, Jude the Dude!" Stu waved at his daughter and started bawling as his wife comforted him. Judy giggled.
The train doors automatically opens for Nick and Judy to enter and they sat down on the seat as Judy lies her head on Nick's arm.
"Uh, I miss being the Easter bunny." muttered Nick.
"You're doing pretty good at playing as the Easter bunny." replied Judy.
"I guess I have no choice but to act like the Easter bunny and I got some chocolate rabbit wrapped with golden foil." Nick takes out the chocolate rabbit from his pocket, unwraps it and bites it, munching the sweet chocolate made out from cocoa. "Want some?" Nick offered some for Judy.
"Alright." Judy takes the chocolate and eats it, muching the chocolate inside her mouth.
Nick and Judy enjoyed their moment of eating a chocolate while waiting for the train to stop at their destination, the city of Zootopia and they have to go back to work by tomorrow for more cop duties.
