This is my Synth character, CHR0M3!

They're generally pretty evil and have an advanced synthesis chamber that can convert any matter to energy, and some of that energy gets converted back into matter in the form of mass and size. The more they consume, the bigger and stronger they become! They also have a separate "conversion" chamber that can transform organic material into synthetic, then give it a nice chrome plating.

Their own plating is a chrome-plated tungsten carbide, which is super dense and resilient. Also super heavy.
