PIXEL TEO STARES INTO YOUR SOUL
This started out as a random thought to the effect of "hey, I wonder if small-scale pixel art, where I think about and put the pixels in one at a time, is as impossible for me to do without sucking at as more traditional art that calls for making pencil lines go where I want them to and such." Then I made it as a texture in the Able Sisters shop in my Animal Crossing: Wild World file, more or less just to see if I could. Then I copied it over to the PC (using nothing fancier than manually looking back and forth between the two screens and just counting how many pixels this one line goes before it turns and such) where I was able to take advantage of the newfound lack of Animal Crossing-related size and palette restrictions to fluff out the cheek ruffs a bit, add some shading, put an Infinite Fish texture in the background, and add that buttonized border effect that I have to have on every single icon-sized thing I ever make ever.
I've already added this to my way too large collection of Livejournal icons and am considering adopting it here. Of course, I have this sort of tradition of sticking to FA icons for an obscenely long time, so I'm a bit hesitant to change. On one hand, it actually represents me better than manga Bulbasaur does, but on the other, manga Bulbasaur is still cute and is only the second icon I've had since, like, 2006.
Edit: Oh, what the hell, I'll do it. As I said, this is a better match on a personal level (my love of non-anti-aliased pixels ties my love of Pokemon, so the one that's actually a picture of Teo breaks the tie and wins) and this way it can better match teogifts.

F5 and such.

With 3D Dot Game Heroes and its insane character creator on the way, I had some strong incentive for at least wanting to check and see whether or not I'm actually capable of working with pixels! The results are fairly encouraging... I might try and see if I can get something like this into the game. It would be neat to have a suitably majestic rendition of Pixel Teo with which to roam the land.
