Azrael had never expected to wake again. After he and his friend had been sealed in a dark limbo years ago before their full corruption, Azrael had been put to sleep and sleep he did. The sleep had been so deep that he failed to notice that his body had rotted away and he was now a dark spirit.
One day, Azrael awoke and was pulled from the limbo he was in. Barely awake and sensing an entire group of evil, his body reflexively killed all the people in the room except for the one laying down. Fully awoken by what he had just done, Azrael felt horrified as he had never killed before, even when prompted by his friend to kill terrible people. Despite this, he floated around a bit, shocked by what he had become. Before, he had been a beautiful angel. Now he was just a spirit made of shadow. He also felt quite weak for some reason and felt himself faltering.
I need to possess something, quick! Azrael thought, alarmed at his weakness.
He looked down at the scared boy laying down on the floor.
I could possess him, but no, I’ll try that as a last resort.
Azrael then noticed the jars and pots filled with body parts and fluids along w/ the metal casket in the back. He was even more horrified and was even disgusted at this, but decided that he shouldn’t let those parts go to waste as he needed a body and he only had this and stealing another’s body as options.
Here goes nothing, Azrael thought, mentally cringing.
He flew into the casket. He then used some of his power to levitate all the body items into the casket. Azrael then got to work making the body. It was disgusting and Azrael hated what he was doing, not to mention it was difficult work, but he kept going nonetheless. When he was done, he destroyed the casket. He then got a feel for the patchwork body he had made. It felt,... wrong. It was too heavy, it felt strange, and, much to Azrael’s dismay, it had both male parts and female parts despite appearing more male.
This won’t do. This body is too wrong. Looks like I’ll have to take his body after all.
Azrael then left the body and used his power to hold Grey down. He looked down at the boy for a moment. He pitied the boy, but decided to take the body quickly before he lost the nerve. As more of him went into the body, Azrael slowly worked Grey’s grey SOUL out of it. As he did so though, he couldn’t shake the feeling that whatever energy was coming from that SOUL was deeply familiar to him somehow.
Once the possession was finished, Azrael made the body float and he snapped the eyes open and smiled eerily. This body felt quite wonderful and would do greatly. He then looked over to Grey who had possessed the patchwork body and who looked very confused and awkward.
Hee hee, he looks so confused! Azrael thought, amused.
He then noticed that he had a notebook and pencil. Not really caring about them, he tossed them over to Grey. He then opened a portal to somewhere and smiled as he sent Grey through before closing it.
I do hope we meet again, Azrael thought, thinking this might be fun.
Then he remembered that his friend and partner was still stuck in that limbo.
“Crap, I forgot about Asmodeus!” Azrael said, facepalming.
He then immediately opened a portal that led back to that limbo. There he saw a dark spirit hung by chains. It had empty eye sockets, a hole in its chest where it’s heart should be, and an empty smile that blood dripped from.
“Asmodeus, is that you?” asked Azrael, shocked and saddened to see that his friend had only deteriorated further after their imprisonment.
“Who… are you?” Asmodeus asked drunkenly.
Azrael couldn’t help but cringe a bit. He could tell from that one short sentence that the years of solitude, dark magic, and absence from heaven had only made Asmodeus’ insanity worse.
“Asmodeus, it’s me… your friend, Azrael….” said Azrael, trying to hold his tears back.
“Oh… sorry, I didn’t recognize you. What… happened to you?” Asmodeus asked, pretty far gone.
“Oh, I woke for some reason and was sent somewhere else. I learned that I had become a weak, dark spirit and I stole someone’s body to keep myself from dying and now I’m here to free you!”
Azrael then used his magic to make a dark blade appear on his arm. He then started hacking away at the chains. They were pretty tough and hard to break through, but Azrael eventually cut through them. He tried to cut the shackles as well, but it was no good. Despite this, he then grabbed his friend and pulled him into a big, tight hug while smiling and letting out silent tears behind Asmodeus’ “bacK”. Asmodeus felt, oddly enough, like really plush fur.
Asmodeus let the hug continue for a bit before finally pushing his friend back gently.
“Let’s continue what we started.” Asmodeus said while still having his empty smile.
“Asmodeus, are you really sure we should continue this? I mean, don’t you remember what happened all those years ago? What if-?”
“Shhhh….” Asmodeus calmly quieted his beloved partner. “This time, it’ll be different. :)”
“If you say so. But I’m still not sure we should do this.” Azrael said, not wanting to repeat history, but also not wanting to go against his only friend."
“Oh Azrael,” Asmodeus said, voice oozing w/ a persuasive sweetness while cupping his friend’s new face in one ghastly hand, “I might’ve gone too far before but I promise you, this time I won’t make the same mistakes I made before. Plus, this time, it’ll be fun.” :)
“Ok, I’m still not sure of this,” Azrael said while holding his partner’s arm, “but I still trust you, partner.”
“Excellent. Now, let’s go find that spellbook and find a way to break these shackles from my wrists as well as get my true form back.” :)
Azrael then opened a portal that led to the same city he deposited Grey at. He then looked at Asmodeus w/ a smile in spite of his reservations. Asmodeus, obviously smiling back, wrapped his arm around Azrael, gave a nod and they stepped through the portal….
