Which way is up? No time to think!

I coloured this last night... It's based on some earlier work I did. This time I tried a digital approach, and I guess it works better than the traditional one. Anyway, I like drawing different kinds of dragons. There are so many body build and colour combinations you can use.

The green one is going to win, btw.

I was worried that no one would notice that I had placed the horizon in the upper corner... It was a little experiment and I felt a bit unsure about it. I'm glad you like how it came out! =)

Absolutely beatiful work.

Nice poses, crisp anatomy, and some very stunning color work here. I like it a lot!
Really though, the colors you used fit the piece perfectly. the pastels add a nice air of fantasy to it. ^^

Many thanks! I love drawing dragons, though their anatomy can be quite a challenge at times. More than half of my scetches always end up flying in the trash bin. ^^;;

Many thanks! It's also nice to hear that we have the same taste in wings. It might be easier to draw feathery-winged dragons, but I like the leather-type more. Especially if the wings resemble arms... I think they work well anatomy-wise. =)

Yeah, I agree. I mainly base mine on bat wings. I find that they look better on dragons. I prefer feather wings on gryphons. Though for me, feather ones are harder to draw. Too much detail.

The color, the lighting, the touch of scales exture that is at just right ammount (not to overdone but not lacking as to make them looks ruberry), the cloud,the ambient,the figure. I approove all of them!

By he way, how did you do the scale ?

I did the scales by lassoing myself a scale-shaped selection and sweeping gently over it with a big soft opacity brush. It was pretty simple, but I think it doesn't look half bad.

Woah, another great work Charha. First time that I've seen a dragon fight, and one of the rare cases that I've seen a dragon in your works. Once again, great job Charha. I wonder what happens to the loser in this fight...
