One of the most ancient innate feelings we have is pain and therefore results the desire to lift it. Lowa, as one of the oldest spirits in the neverland, has found joy in relieving what was broken. He claims to be born in a dark age without a sun, rules or morals. An age where there had been no solidarity, when living was a mere challenge rather than a gift, Lowa was eventually broken by this world and none of the things he did to survive, mattered.
In the afterlife, he was marked with a never-ending flow of black tears for his undying remorse and the pin that would feed his pain for eternity. He sought to finally free himself from the dark spirits that haunted him and adapted the knowledge to communicate and find peace with his tormentors. In return, they taught him the secret of the ominous black veils, making him the first one to resist the unrelenting ashes of the neverland.
His likeliness to help other lost souls with their unresolved relationships in the world of the living, his expertise with curses and his profession as sophisticated therapist made him a very respected figure among most inhabitants. Some gifted him their precious artefacts even his crown has been donated by one of his patrons. And despite his perpetual torment, the way he turned his place around in the world, somewhat grants him the ability to smile.
