Millard, the shy, put-upon and heavily used for testing fox, has a hell of a lot of issues. Physical ones notwithstanding, he's reclusive, extremely paranoid about people and possibly being used for experiments again, and incredibly reluctant to do anything outside his very limited purview of enjoying making things. So when he got out of that lab, and found himself lost and alone, he was lucky the nearest town took pity on him and helped him get on his own two feet.

As close to it as you can when they realised how shy he was around people. But they were supportive of this clearly suffering stranger, and that's how he ended up in the awkward position of owning an apartment with no idea how to decorate it or really take care of himself. But hey, that's what the very gentle attention of this fluffy samoyed caretaker is for. She'll keep him warm, fed, and help him adjust.

Life shouldn't be so hard for shy fox.
